Month 1

MPI93

So I have been on Spironactatone for about a month now and my skin is worse than when i started. I guess its the initial breakout? I am so discouraged to keep going but this is truly my last option so i am desperate. Normally i break out really bad before my period but im not on my period rn. I never took pictures before but here is where i am now.  I use cetephil gentle face wash, tazorac gel, and vanti face cream. hoping for the best!

Hi MPI93! I just want to encourage you to keep your chin up! From what I’ve read it definitely gets worse before it gets better. I am also on Spironolactone and my first few months we’re terrible. I broke out worse and it was SO hard to press on. Probably for like a good 6 weeks it was awful. :-( But it does work... it just takes a lot of time and patience and figuring out the correct dosage for your body. I am into my 4th month and I am still not completely clear. I still get 1 or 2 new zits every three days or every other day. I started out on a really low dose and have gradually worked my way up to 150 mg. I am 32 and have very persistent adult acne. It’s not cystic but it’s just very annoying. I use Epiduo at night but try to not over wash my face because I don’t want to strip my skin of its natural oils because then I feel like it over produces oil cuz it thinks it’s dry. Please feel free to message me if you need to vent more! I also have a blog if you look up my name and you can see my progress. This journey is so hard and it’s easy to feel hopeless and that no one understands the battle but please remember you are NOT alone! Take care and Blessings!

I'm also purging like crazy right now after being 1.5 months on 50 mg. This is my 3rd time trying Spiro, the first two times I had really bad side effects after taking only 1 pill. Thankfully, I tried another 3rd brand which hasn't given me any bad side effects. What's your dosage? I'm also using tazorac gel and sometimes azelaic acid, it really helps with the redness/inflammation, but it burns/itches. Please keep going! I know I will give it a fair shot, at least six months to see if it will be work.
