Week 5 update.
(from 15th Feb - 2nd March)
I have decided to to start blogging weekly or every 2 weeks depending on the changes in my skin.
Firstly I had my month 2 review with my dermatologist on Thursday 22nd Feb. She was really happy with how skin has reacted to the accutane and also that my mood had not been affected. She increased my dose from 40mg per day to 70mg per day. I collected my prescription today (2nd march) so will start my increased dose tomorrow.
Over the last couple of weeks the biggest change in my skin is the dryness, all of a sudden the oil production just seems to have stopped. Literally overnight I noticed one day when driving home from work when looking in the mirror that my face wasn't shining like a mirror! Also that my makeup had not moved, usually by the end of the day at work my makeup has broken down and looks awful because of the oil my skin as produced, but no more!
My lips!! Oh my god I cant keep them moisturised enough, they are starting to peel and seem to be dry no matter how much I apply product to them. My hair also is not getting half as greasy as it was, usually I would only get 2 days maximum from a hair wash and have to use loads of dry shampoo between washes. But now its very different, I had my hair done on a Saturday and didn't have to wash it until the following Wednesday!
I had my period 2 weeks ago and I thought it was lighter than usual, not sure if this was anything to do with the medication or not. During my period I had a couple of very small pimples pop up on my face, I have been excessively moisturising as my skin is so dry, so I'm not sure what was the cause of those.
I have one small spot on my chin and one on the side of my nose today, which appeared yesterday, I thought that this morning they would have followed the usual pattern of my skin and got a lot bigger but they haven't, if anything they have gotten smaller.
Overall still very happy with my progress, will be interesting to see how my skin reacts to the higher dosage!
