Whoa, take a breather. It'll be okay. Just try to be happy, fake it until you make it. Don't touch your face or do anything out of the ordinary. Stressing out about it will only make it worse, trust me. Just smile and bear it. I'm not going to lie, people will notice it, but if you're happy and you smile and laugh, they won't care. Be confident no matter what, don't let it show that your skin has beat you. That's what I have to tell myself before I go to work everyday.

@annazh If your hormones are OK, than it's probably your gut. Have you experimented with diets, in order to find which food causes pimples/acne?  That's exactly what happened in my case, and I had to cut sugar, dairy and even gluten to stay clear. It's hard, but I eat healthy and I'm clear. It's really ridiculous when I remember a few years ago, doctors and my parents were telling me that food doesn't cause acne.
Nobody should accept and live with this evil, at least for 1 reason:
- Healthy people don't have acne. Ignoring the problem, you can just make things worse and live in the illusion that you're happy and that you don't care, but you do. Everybody does. It's like when obese people say they don't care that they are fat, they do care, but they ignore it.
So, what can you actually do ? Start with Investing some time in finding the root cause of your acne. Get rid of sugar in your diet. Eat healthy. Eventually, you'll figure it out and you'll be happy that you just didn't accept your faith.

In reference to the above comment...you can be pretty healthy by all standards and still have acne. Some people are just genetically prone to acne. You can even have completely normal hormone levels and be sensitive to androgens/5 alpha reductase, which causes acne.

It sounds like acne is really ruling your life. Accutane isn't as terrifying or horrible as doctors make it out to be, to be completely honest. It's a very personal decision and obviously requires some consideration. You have to be committed to treatment for 6-8 months at the shortest, with minimal to no alcohol, and you have to be mentally prepared to deal with some annoying side effects like dry lips, dry skin, and occasional aches or tiredness. But the horror stories are truly nothing to obsess over and dictate whether accutane is right for you. It's interesting how doctors so willingly prescribe other medicines, including birth control, without freaking about SE's even though the pill and the ring [especially] can cause heart problems, stroke and death. So just putting it into perspective, I personally feel doctors and the cosmetics industry knock accutane because curing your acne means you're permanently freed from the system. Less money for them.

Just my two cents. :) I also want to remind you that having acne doesn't define you, nor your beauty. You are not your acne.

@cloudydreamer @ShyShortstopHey thank you for your support!  I have tried dairy free, gluten free , sugar free diet. It doesnt help me much:( I noticed though that I breakout when I ovulate. So probably something is wrong with my hormones. BUT my blood work and saliva test showed that all of my hormones are doing fine. So I'm not sure what to do. I also have IBS which I believe is influencing my breakouts. I am asking probiotics, natural tincture to control hormones prescribed by naturopath. It doesn't seem to work. I guess I still didn't find the root cause. If I will not find the root cause within this year, I will take roaccutane.

My breakouts worsened around ovulation around the time my androgens began to dominate. I think I have adrenal-based PCOS. My DHEA-S is pretty high, and total testosterone is mildly elevated. Typically, male androgens peak around ovulation, so it makes sense that androgen dominant women would break out around then. Have you ever had your hormones tested? I highly recommend doing that on day 3 or 4 of your cycle and asking for:

  • DHEA/DHEA-S
  • Free and total T
  • Estrogen:progesterone ratio
  • Iron, ferritin
  • DHT
  • Cortisol
  • ACTH function
