4 Months

Almost 4 months of using Differin, cleansing with Cetaphil 2x a day, never using make up, and stopping my obsession of my skin.. here's what happened! My skin is renewed. I know I still have few blemishes but this is far better from where i started. I feel so thankful with the products i use. Especially, Galderma creator of differin and cetaphil products, for all their life changing innovations. This wasn't an easy journey, i had ups and downs but i powered through despite the recurring seemingly endless breakouts, with the help of people who share their own experiences on here. I am very thankful, i wasn't able to name each one of them but they all inspired me one way or another. In return, i am here to share my own experience. I am now a renewed person after my breakout experience. I learned to love my natural skin. Less is more. I no longer put any make ups except for one, lipstick! I just use the mildest cleanser, Cetaphil! I no longer obsess on my skin like I used to. I put moisturizer on which is also Cetaphil. I'm now a believer of the power of retinoids. Where as before it scares the hell out of me when reading all horror stories about it. But after I experience it myself, i can say that you have to be mentally and emotionally prepared for the roller coaster ride (redness, dryness, breakouts name it) should you use this. Because in the end, after 4 months for me, my skin became super smooth like a baby and the dark spots fade away fast. :) I will keep updating till i finally achieve my clear skin goal.

Hi Chris, I am so happy that differin worked for you! I just finished my 2 months. My main problem were whiteheads and a lot of it has gone away. I still have pimples popping up but not as crazy as the IB and they do go a way faster. Sometimes I feel the skin is finally getting better and sometimes it feels like it's back to square one!

Question is when did you see significant improvement? Some details  on what to expect between week 8 to 12 to month 4 would be most helpful!

I agree with you going through this treatment is sure challenging. It can be a pretty lonely journey. I am trying really hard to stick to differin because I am determine to fix the problem but it can be disheartening going through hell week after week.

And congrats to you for sticking to differin for 4 whole months! It was all worth it!

Hi how are you? I havent updated in a while. I stopped using differin 1 month ago because i developed cystic acne for 2 weeks (extremely stubborn) and developed extremely itchy/uncomfortable dermatitis. I was on differin for a total of 5 months and the break out has been on and off. I switched to Retin A, it's a first generation vitamin A derivative with higher potency. So far the results are great. I love the peeling effect and how it prevents pimple from getting big. i will be posting pictures/update tonight :)

Hi Chris, I am sorry to hear that you developed cystic acne and dermatitis. I read that many differin users switch to retin a after the three months. I am glad that it is working well for you.

I have completed my 12 weeks and I am down to one cystic acne which is taking forever to go away!

My PIH is horrendous and I am wondering how long did it take for your marks to start fading away? Does retin-a helps with the marks?

Hi rubyk! I still have lots of PIH but the retin-A helps alot because it speeds up skin turnover process so the new skin underneath gets exposed.. I can say from experience that i have significantly more exfoliation than differin. Some people do not like that but in my case, i do :)
