GOING INTO THE PROCESS

So I just typed this long essay looking like blog entry and turns out i wasn't signed in so it deleted the whole thing. That was a bummer but I'll TRY and keep it short and sweet. Hi, my names Gia and I'm 14. I've been struggling with acne since the 3rd grade and I'm now in the 9th grade. Its a battle I've been fighting for my whole life and something needed to be done. I'm not gonna go into my whole sob story because this blog is not about that.

My acne I would say is mild-moderate. It gets very bad when I'm on my period and is very hard to get rid of. I get cystic ones that are underneath the skin and only time is what gets rid of them. Everyday at least I have 10 on my face and once i get rid of one there's a new one in its place. I've tried pretty much everything on the market and prescriptions from the derm. None if which my skin agrees with.

4th-8th grade was the worst its ever been. Even my family would comment on my face and how bad it was. Which was hard. Now in the 9th grade its died down just a bit but it flares up a ton when its that time of the month. It traveled down to my back and chest which is only getting worse.

NOW, what you've been wanting to hear I'm sure. I'm starting this process as of tomorrow Jan. 1, 2016. It came in the mail today along with prescription moisturizer but I wanted to wait until tomorrow so I can have a fresh start. "New year, New me" right? hahahahahah ok i'm done. Anyway I will also be updating you at the end of every week. Also will be uploading pictures of the before and after at the end of this 5-month long process. I hope this blog helps me and whoever is reading this in some way. I hope to see feedback and tips from people!

Thanks!!

-Gia (:

Hey Gia,

I totally feel you im 15 and my acne only started around my 15th birthday which was pretty recent. Up until then my skin was totally clear but now it's broken out, red and irritated with clusters of zits on my cheeks. One of my really good friends who is a girl had the problem your having with the acne flare ups around that time of the month and she tried pretty much everything but to no avail then went on birth control because she had some really bad bleeding and cramps and it actually started to clear her acne up, im not sure if the birth control was what cleared her but if not its a very timely coincidence. I'm not sure if thats something your willing to try or not but maybe it would help? Also about your blog helping you or others thats totally how i feel. its very hard to open up to people and i feel the internet gives some anonymity that brings out the bravery in some. Hopefully my comment helps. -H.F

Well H.F I'm so glad you commented and sorry it's taken me this long to get back to you. I'm sorry to hear about your acne flare up. It sucks. Acne is really a cruel thing. About the birth control.. I've definitely considered it but I decided not to go through with it because when my aunt was young she told me about how she went on it, and she said once she stopped the medication her face went right back to the way it was. I didn't want to take the risk of getting my hopes up and then being disappointed because its happened to me many times before. That's why I'm on Accutane or Isotretinoin. But I'm glad to hear about your friend and her face clearing up. And your right its hard to talk about this stuff but I'm glad to know that there are other people listening and getting something from it as well as me.

Thanks!!

haha ive been disaapointed 100 times too, my mom was like this cleanser worked wonders on "friend A" it will totally help you. Ended up making me sooooo much worse bc it counteracted my acne meds from the derm and was way to harsh of a cleanser. It actually left a red line of where i had used the cleanser. Accutane is the best stuff on the market and now it may seem like its making it worse sometimes its the best stuff out there and will totally clear you up. Perhaps not in the time frame that you or I would like (im on week 8 on my meds and im not even close to clear but my breakouts have stopped with the occasional zit once and a while) but the scars are still dark brown spots but i think theres a med when i go back to the derm that can fix it. Best of luck.
