Learning the hard way

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh what a journey it has been! Posting 'my acne story' on youtube really got me thinking about everything I tried to get rid of acne - and I mean pretty much EVERYTHING (although I never tried accutane).

I decided to do a video covering everything I ever tried. I had no idea how hard that would be! It's been like a giant jigsaw puzzle - sorting through all my attempts, sorting through old pictures, filming it, editing it all together, editing all the pictures of my attempts... I can't believe how many AWFUL things I tried!!!! I definitely did more harm than good in a lot of cases. Anyone who has suffered with bad acne (mine was cystic... painful, inflamed, my entire face hurt some days) knows that you get to a point of desperation... willing to try anything, spend any amount of money, trust anyone's advice...   I learned the hard way what worked and what didn't.

I know some things work for some and don't work for others. But there are at least half a dozen treatments in my video I can confidently say NO ONE should EVER put near their face / acne! It honestly took me probably 10 hours to sort through everything and edit the video together but I hope it can reach people and stop them from doing some of the treatments I did.

If only my 28 year old self could go back in time and talk to my early 20s self!!! I think I could have saved myself a ton of pain (literally and emotionally).

Side note: I am finding more and more how important acne is in the role of acne and skin health in general. I haven't been eating as well as I normally do... puffy face, dull skin, a couple tiny little zits (not a big deal AT ALL compared to what I used to get... but still not something I'm excited to see). The overall health of my skin literally goes downhill within a few days of my typical diet I used to follow. I have a lot of hard earned advice on that too. It will probably be a while before I do a video on that though. So much to cover and I want to do it well since I feel it could really help someone if I do it right. I have a TON to earn about filming and editing still too but I keep learning and working on it... and it's been fun so far.

I NEVER thought I'd be on the advice giving end rather than the desperate, suffering end. I'll be sure to post a link to the video once it's ready to go. In the meantime, I'm always here for support!
