Accutane 17 day Update

Here I am at day 17 on Accutane, 60mg from the start. I also have been on my spiro still, but am weening off that. I was on 100mg of spiro but have slowly weened down to 50mg and will stop taking it at the end of month 1.

Wanted to share what I have experienced thus far (hasn't been that long obviously!!)

Within the first couple days I got about 2 monster cysts on my forehead -- an area I never get them. But I got them injected and they healed quickly.

Other than that, breakouts have not been excessive. I would say they are just about the same as before, maybe less even.

At about the week mark, my face got what looked like heat rash all over it -- tiny bumps that were not red but they were/are everywhere. It almost looked like all of my pores are more noticeable now and perhaps this is my skin starting out the drying out process. This "heat rash" looking rash kind of flares up & down. I think its just my face starting to dry out the pores.

Right now I only have 2 active spots.

I have been very good about moisturizing so thus far, my skin isn't too dry. My lips however, are extremely dry. Keep that aquaphor lip balm handy at all times!!

My mood is overall so much better. why? because once you start Accutane, there is this sense that "the end is near!" It is a feeling of hope, that helps eliminate the depression & anxiety that breakouts bring.

I will report back after the 1 month doctor appointment!!!
