Week 1/day 9 - Dry Skin

I just took my 9th does today, and so far my skin is extremely dry. I was used to dryness with BP and other treatments, but this is a new level for me. Yet, it is to be expected.

Please note, this is the first time in about 7 years that my skin has not been topically medicated by either BP or another topical cream. Some of these initial results may be abnormal because of that.

Currently suffering from:

  • Peeling, dry facial skin - today was the first day that I could see flakes on my pillow
  • Dry lips, cracking at the corners
  • Itchy scalp
  • Dandruff started today - flakes on my pillow may also be from this

To combat that, I am using lotion to moisturize my body. I am using Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream (as recommended by my dermatologist).

Until yesterday, I have always used vaseline to moisturize my lips. Yesterday I really started to notice that it doesn't add any moisture to my lips, but just coats them in between applications. I have to reapply every few hours for it to be effective. Yesterday I tried using olive oil on my lips because I have heard that helps, but it didn't seem to be very effective. Last night and today, I have been trying a combination of just the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream and overnight, some vaseline. I'm trying to slowly ween myself off of Vaseline since I have read a lot saying that your skin does not absorb it and it does nothing to actually moisturize, just cover up symptoms. Will continue to update as I experiment and find out what works.
