I have had Acne since I was about 14. It occurs on my Face, back, and chest mainly. It was the worst from 14-18. When I was 18, I started using the Acne.org and the generous amounts of BP completely cleared my skin. I have a gallery showing my progress.
A couple years ago, I slowly started breaking out here and there, to the point where I realized the BP was no longer working. I think my skin may have gotten too accustomed to it and stopped absorbing it. I have heard of this happening.
I tried using just Neutragena's salicylic acid face wash, with just lotion. Tried a simple face wash and lotion. Tried light treatment using a Dermastyle pen I had from my teenage years. Nothing was really helping.
I got a prescription to tretinoin (I was prescribed a generic brand, the known brand name is Retin-A) cream and doxycycline pills. Neither helped much. The tretinoin reduced my acne very slightly, but nothing to write home about. The pills I didn't see any difference before starting them or after stopping them. After about a month, I saw a dermatologist who prescribed me isotretinoin (also generic, know as brand name Accutane). I will now be posting my progress.
I don't have a before photo, but my dermatologist does, so I will ask for it on my first monthly visit in about 3 weeks and will update this post with it at that time.
Let the journey begin!
