Really Bummed :(

I'm just really bummed...

My face is purging right now on my right cheek--upper, middle, and lower, chin, and starting to purge on my left cheek.

I have 2 actives--one on my lower chin and one on my upper chin (inflamed red bump). The lower chin one looks like it'll come to a head tomorrow and purge/go away.

I have a bunch of red marks on the right side of my face and a couple on the left. Looks like the left cheek will purge soon too... :/

Any encouragement/ similar experiences would be SO appreciated. I am hoping and praying that my cheeks & chin currently purging means that in a couple weeks, my whole face will have purged out the clogged pores and will be clear like my forehead, which looks great right now. FINGERS CROSSED!

hey

i used to use epiduo for a few years on and off which is differin and BP and before that i was on tretinion.

My experiences was it took 7-10 week to get some consistent results i.e a less inflammation.

It all depends though on the person and how irritated the skin gets with it.

:)

It's just a part of the process Hope. Purging this early on is a sign that your pores are pushing everything out and paving the way for clear skin. On your next derm visit, you can ask for an anti-microbial which can help with the inflammation. I use aczone which doesn't seem to make a huge difference for me but it is gentle. There is also BP which helps if your skin is not too sensitive. Try to avoid mirrors and as faded jay stated, put in your head a minimum of 3 months before expecting improvement. I'm definitely here if you need to talk Hugs from NY Sasch

Hey Jay, thakns for the encouragement, that really helps. I'm going to adjust my mindset to weeks 10-12 to see (hopefully) much more improvement and less inflammation. Did you think one form of topical retinoid worked better than another? I'm using Tretinoin (Retin A 0.05%).

Hey girl, thanks for the encouragement too. This purging definitely sucks, but I'm hoping clear skin is in the near future! I currently use a BP wash in the morning, but I'm wondering if anything could speed up the healing of the skin, but I think the RetinA already does that. Thanks for the kind thoughts and words! I'm going to set my sights on month 3 as the month of better/clearer skin! I hope that happens! :)

Hey

For me epiduo worked the best out of all of the topical treatments as in the UK we don't have things like aczone etc

Some people work better with a cream or gel, lower or higher dosages it depends on what your skin can handle.

BP usually works well on my skin thats probably why epiduo worked.

Thanks! I'm feeling like some of this inflamed purging is inevitable, no matter what kind i use, but I'm going to check with my dermatologist about that!
