Hey everyone!

So I'm doing pretty good right now (knock on wood. knock on wood. knock on wood).

Summary of weeks 1,2, and almost week 3:

  • Week 1 - Drying out. Skin shedding its top layer. Starting to get small bumps/ more zits.
  • Week 2 - INITIAL BREAKOUT. Happened to forehead first, then in different sections of my face. Broke out on forehead, nose, chin, then right cheek, then left cheek, then chin again a bit, then right jawline, now left jawline a bit. Tons of small bumps, more zits, and a few painful underground zits. Red marks, healing. Very upset with skin and kind of depressed about it!
  • Week 3 - Stubborn zits finally drying up. Skin still purging, but in smaller ways. Complexion improving SO MUCH--becoming more even, brighter, and healthier looking. Pores becoming smaller. Skin still healing and marks from stubborn zits still healing.

Here's an update on my face:

    • 1 on my lower left cheek/ jawline (not very big, but a bit red and annoying)

      • 1 medium-sized pink mark on my left cheek (from that stubborn zit that is FINALLY going away/ healing).
      • Another small mark above it from another small bump that surfaced the other day & then dried up.

[*]MY CHIN. (see my previous post about the mistake I made using Salicylic Acid toner with Benzoyl Peroxide face wash & my topical retinoid). Using CeraVe moisturizer regular and then the CeraVe in the tub. Applying antibiotic cream over the top of that to seal in the moisture.

I'm hoping my skin continues to improve!

Current Regimen (the same except for timing):

Still taking the Spironolactone (75 mg) in the morning and it's working well, just making me thirsty. I really like using the Benzoyl Peroxide facewash (PanOxyl 4%) in the morning and then moisturizing with CeraVe moisturizer after. At night, I wash my face with CeraVe gentle skin cleanser & then apply CeraVe moisturizer. I wait 30 minutes - 1 hour, and then a PEA SIZE amount of the Atralin (0.05%) in a very thin, even layer over my entire face. I think using the BP in the AM & Atralin in the PM is helping the products work how they are supposed to without messing with one another.

      Looking for Sunscreen (Non-Comedogenic) Suggestions:

Also, if you're using a topical retinoid for acne--what sunscreen do you use? I want something that's not oily and won't clog my pores (non-comedogenic). I'd love suggestions!

One note-- I have been trying not to use any makeup except concealer over zits/marks.

Any advice/encouragement/comments would be really appreciated!

      Thanks! :)

Awesome. Progress will not always be linear but we need to experience it along the way. Keep up the positive attitude

I know... I think my forehead is done purging though, I can't even see any clogged pores anymore. There are definitely places on my mid and lower cheeks that the pores look like they'll purge the "acne seed" that's down beneath there. Hoping these don't get too bad or inflamed. I think the worst may be over, though! :)
