Week 13 (Day 93)

Thirteen weeks in and the roller coaster continues. The monster on my right hand side glasses line has gone down considerably but it'll probably be another week or two before it deflates fully and I'm fine with that. All the small bumps that started popping out on my left cheek have started to inflate and I am breaking out in the same spot by my lower left cheek where many of my deep pimples have been. It seems that every other week or so the bumps inflate again. I go see my dorm in about 15 days so I am hoping for some form of consistent improvement before then. I also have one hard bump on my lip line which is beginning to grow and hurt and two smaller bumps on my right cheek which has been previously clear for weeks.

Overall, my face is not God awful but alas, the acne continues.

On another note, my naturopath is going away on vacation so I may not have the chance to see her before the end of April so I'm hoping that doesn't affect progress too much.

My disposition has been positive despite all the madness so I thank God for giving me the grace to go through this.

He truly is good.

Your positive attitude is key to getting through the worst of things. Hopefully your derm can suggested something to help the process. Honestly I was surprised how long differin took to work for me, I though in a month or two things would be fine but even up to about 4 months I was still unhappy with how things looked. Have you been taking any pictures, sometimes these can help show improvement that we can't see from day to day. Stay strong, blogging does help get your though as well :)

Thanks Hun! My attitude does help and sometimes I do have to fake it till I make it. I decided this time around to NOT take pictures as I would fixate and believe it or not, that has helped somewhat. My acne is not as bad as it was last summer so there has been improvement but it is in no way, shape or form consistent which sucks bad. My derm will probably want to bump me up to retin a but in all honesty, I don't think my skin can handle it as I am noticing some eczema patches when I go too hard core with the Differin. I am realizing that my time line may very we'll be unrealistic as I too thought that by the third month I would be home free. I'll probably just trudge through to four months and maybe beyond if my derm thinks it's best just to say I gave it my all and then some. Wish me luck and thanks for all your support. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!

Always wishing you luck! I agree with the retin a, I think it can just be too strong for some people. Something I found helped a bit with the dryness I had from differin was applying my moisturiser first then waiting until I was about to go to bed to apply the differin. I switch better differin or moisturiser first now depending on how my skin is, but it did help to sooth the dry patches a bit. I don't know if you can get it in the US but a product that really helped me with my clogged pores and stopped them turning in to monsters was a product called Vitage protect and perfect serum, although it has salicylic acid in it, it also contains zinc pca and I used it to spot treat the worst of my bumps, I have to say it was quite gentle but effective at getting rid of them, I would sometimes switch between this and differin and even now I use it more than differin when my skin is acting up.
