17 Days On Isotrex & Minocin= Improvements And A Rash?

Today is a mixed bag. I don't want to jinx myself but I THINK that I'm getting over my initial breakout. Nothing new came to the surface overnight- no nodules, no pustules, nothing. My face is continuing to look less red and angry, and the five pustules on the right hand side of my skin have shrunk a little bit. In fact all the spots on my face at the minute look a little bit drier and a little bit smaller. I am, however, very well acquainted with all kinds of false hope and I've been told the path to clear skin while on retinoids isn't a straight or simple one, so I'm trying not to get too excited. It was nice to apply make up to a slightly less lumpy/bumpy face though!

Something seriously strange is happening to my neck though. When I got out of the shower last night the skin around my neck seemed quite sensitive and red. My skin is pretty dry at the minute anyway so I just applied a lot of Elave moisturiser and chalked it up to being on Isotrex and the fact that I live near the sea in Ireland and it is so cold right now and the wind is genuinely beating me in the face every time I leave my house. However, I woke up this morning and the redness hasn't disappeared and my neck was super itchy, so I'm not sure if it's just dry skin or a rash. A side effect from the medication? Severely dry skin? Will it disappear on its own or should I go to my GP? I've been so often recently I can't really afford to keep going back and with my dermatologist appointment in January I'm trying to save every penny I can (I don't have health insurance so I'm paying for all treatment myself).

My colleague gave me an antihistamine because she often gets red skin rashes and it's helped with the itching. I'm going to go to the pharmacy later today to see if they can recommend me something topical. If anyone has any thought or suggestions I'd really love to hear them!

UPDATE: i visited the pharmacist on my lunch break and she said due to the fact that I don't apply Isotrex to my neck, the red skin was probably unrelated and might be attributed to the weather if I'm extra sensitive at the minute. I bought all the Elave moisturiser in the world and hopefully I'll notice an improvement in a few days.

It could also be eczema. When i was on The Regimen, I never used it anywhere near my neck but developed eczema there (crazy!). A prescribed steroid helped and it hasn't been back since.

Thanks for the suggestion! I used to have eczema when I was little and it was so bad I have scars in the creases of my arms from scratching! Sorry you had to go through that. Today there isn't any itching and the patches on my neck resemble dry patches on my face so I think it's just a bit of unsightly dry skin! I bought all the moisturiser in the world so hopefully that will help me a little!
