So this past Tuesday (December 2nd), i went back to my derm. After examining my skin, she said that the number of acne lesions i had was less than pre-accutane but agreed with me that my acne was changing. Pre accutane i got many small white heads that were concentrated on areas around my face. Now, while i still get those small whiteheads, I am getting a lot more inflamed under the skin pimples that are taking weeks to go away and are leaving hyper pigmentation marks. I chalk it up to hormones out of whack.
She added Differin to the mix so for the next week, my regimen will be as follows:
I will start out using the differin 1-2 times for the first week then 3 times the following week, then every other day then every day. Hopefully it will not trigger my eczema. Also, if I am not irritated the first week, i will try using the differin BEFORE my moisturizer. My deem does not think this will help a ton but in her words, he goal is to get me tolerant to using a stronger retinoid. I return to see her the first week in February. This is going to be a LONG process. I am most concerned about my eczema flaring and an initial breakout. I guess all that there is to do is wait and see.
On a nutritional note, I am going to ask my naturopath to switch me from flax seed oil to EPO because I can't stand the taste and i think it may be making my acne worse. I go see her in 2 weeks so i'll be sure to update then.
