Can't Beat Acne Help

Im a 16 year old male, and started getting acne at 15, but didn't get real bad until about 4 months ago. I tried using stridex, or over the counter products such as neutrogena, and proactiv, to no success. I then first saw a dermatologist about 9 months ago. He gave me antibiotics (I forget which one), told me to use neutrogena 2 % salicylic acid, and a cream. Anyway there was absolutely no improvement, and my acne continued to get worse after this. I then switched to a new dermatologist about 5 months ago. She advised me to take vitamin A to bring everything out in my skin, along with continued use of salicylic acid, and a type of benozyl peroxide cream. This made my skin TERRIBLE. Before this my skin was normal for a teenager with some pimples, after this my entire left, and right side of my face were cover with hundreds of tiny little zits, some clear, some red, sprinkled with some big pimples. After returning to the derm, she said this was expected, and to continue the use. However nothing got better, and she realized it wasn't working. I then stopped the vitamin A, and continued the salicylic acid, with some sulfur creams before bed. My skin calmed a bit, but was still really bad. Finally again close to a month ago when I returned she prescribed me with the antibiotic doryx, with a new cream sandoz Erythromycin and Benzoyl Peroxide, along with the continued washing of my face with the salicylic acid. This is the regiment I continue to this day. My skin is not improving at all, and I don't know what else to do. I work out every single day, drink almost entirely water, eat pretty healthy, have completely wiped out dairy, and soda from my diet. I wash my face twice a day with the salicylic acid, take my antibiotic with dinner, and apply the benozyl peroxide cream before bed. The acne is not getting better, and even starting to spread to my forehead which had remained perfectly clear until this point! What am I doing wrong? Why won't anything including antibiotics help at all? Do I have to go on accutane? I have heard some scary stuff about accutane, but at this point I don't know what else to do. Sorry for this being so long.
