Day 20 - Still No Improvement

I took some photos of my face, but I didn't put them up because they look almost exactly like last week's photos...

I've been on Spring Break, so I went about 6 days without putting on makeup, and still, nothing, absolutely nothing, has changed since last week. I'm still washing with the Cetaphil antibacterial bar, applying Epiduo and Clindamycin, taking Bactrim DS twice a day, and my skin looks just as bad as it did 2 weeks ago..

I ran out of mineral foundation, and since I don't want to be applying liquid foundation every day, I went out and bought myself the Neutrogena mineral sheers loose powder foundation (I used it last year and liked it, but then again my skin wasn't that bad...). I also wanted a new concealer, so I got the Physicians Formula Conceal RX. Now I'm a bit worried about the PF concealer because I just realized that it has sodium chloride, and doesn't that have a comedogenic factor of 5?... But I've been looking around and I've seen a few people say it doesn't break them out, so I guess I'll give it a go.

I just don't understand why you are not improving. Hmm?!! I know you must feel depressed but keep trying and keep talking to your doctor. It took me 20 years to find my perfect regimen. Have you considered the hormonal route like Spironolactone and birth control pills. Just a thought. I recently made the switch from antibiotic based therapy to hormonal and I am doing fine. 90% clear 90% of the time. I'll be 40 this year so I have resigned myself to the fact that I will not/have not grown out of it. I'll be a rickety old lady with acne or at least if I keep up my regimen I'll be 90% clear 90% of the time. My point is I don't think a day will come when I don't need acne treatments. We'll see. If I am lucky I'll live long enough to outgrow it lmao!!! PEACE SISTER!

If it has only been 20 days, my advice is to stick with it. It usually takes at LEAST three months before there is any dramatic improvement. I know how tough it is in the mean time :( but hang in there.

As for makeup, I personally wouldn't advise using any drug store mineral powders. My experience was that it broke me out. Since switching to Bare Minerals, I saw a big improvement. I know it is more expensive, but it's totally worth it! And the best concealer I've ever used is Dermablend. It can cover just about anything!

Yeah it's been pretty tough :/ My derm recommended birth control last time but sadly because I'm still on Diamox for hypertension she said she was afraid there might be some interactions so we dropped that idea :/ (The plan was actually that I take the BC alongside Bactrim) Maybe once I'm off Diamox I'll be able to give it a try :) Thanks for all the support!! :)

I do want to stick with it but it's difficult trying to convince my dad, who had severe acne when he was younger, that we have to wait that long; he thinks that there must be some magic pill that will definitely work, and work fast :/

Oh yeah I used to use Bare Minerals; I got it as a birthday gift a few years ago, but yeah the price just sent me to the drugstore haha. I'll definitely consider it again though :)

I just checked out Dermablend and yeah it seems pretty great! Thanks for the suggestion :)
