I’m starting accutane tomorrow with a mix of excitement for the end-results, fear of the initial break-out, and regret that I did not try this drug years ago.
I’m 30 now and my skin is worse than ever before. It makes me mad to remember how dismissive so many doctors are about acne and I’m almost as annoyed when I think of the wasted energy I spent crying over it, the wasted evenings I spent hiding in my room, and the wasted money I spent on prescription and over-the-counter products.
If anyone reading this is getting no where with GPs and spending too much time and money on his/her skin, please go to a dermatologist. GP after GP tried to tell me it wasn’t an issue until eventually one got sick of me and sent me to the dermatologist. She thankfully took it seriously, which was a massive relief, and here I am ready to shrink those oil glands into order with the best medicine can offer.
