Start Of Claravis (Round 4)

Hi Everyone,

Before I get to acne part of this blog, I want to tell you a little about myself. I am a 19 year college student athlete at the University of Delaware and grew up in Pennsylvania. I am currently in my freshman year at school and absolutely love it here.

Now time for the acne part. I have been on Claravis (Accutane) FOUR times. Yes this is my fourth time being on the drug. I have moderate to severe acne that is extremely persistent but luckily hasn't caused any scaring. Every year for me is about the same. First I will get horrible breakouts during the winter months, which results in my dermo putting me on Claravis again. I will go through the cycle and about after three months on the drug, my skin will start to clear up. I will have flawless skin all through summer and fall and then just like that everything goes downhill. I don't want to call it seasonal acne because I really don't think that is the case. Like I said earlier, this is my fourth time on the drug. I deciding to take a different approach this time and try to document my progress through this round of Claravis. I will be posting my daily progressions right here on this blog. I have been on the drug for about a month now and am in the initial breakout stage so I will start with my journey from this day and on. If anyone has any questions please let me know. I know everything and anything about Claravis and what you can expect while on it.

Okay so here day 21:

Still in the initial breakout stage. Skin is so dry because of the 80 mg dose a day (never have done that high of a dose before). Front of my face is actually clearing up quite nicely. Jawline is the worst part of my face while my cheeks seem to be significantly improving. If I have anything on the front part of my face it would just be a couple of white heads. My jawline has several cysts along with a few on my cheeks. I am trying to limit myself to one shower a day because water irritates my skin. Trying to use a shit ton of lotion and it seems to keep everything in check. My face is obviously still a wreck but I expect improvements very soon.

I remember my college days. It was one of the best times of my life. I also attended and graduated from law school-one of the worst times of my life. My daughter is almost college age, shes 16 and I am 39. I want to try accutane but my derm says I don't need it. Which is kinda true because my skin is clear with benzaclin and amoxicillin (just picked up a bottle of 90 today, only paid $1.20 for it) and tretinoin. I want to go back on spironolactone. Anyhow, enough about me. I hope the accutane gives you the clear skin you deserve. Enjoy your college years. The time goes fast after that.
