Ocd And Acne?

I hope everybody is doing well.

I'm currently suffering from a minor break out. It's nothing serious, but I've been spending a lot of time focusing on it (specifically my forehead). Every few hours, I check my reflection in the mirror and try to notice any signs of improvement. Thankfully, the scabs and inflammation are gone now, but I'm still wondering. Are any of you overly compulsive about the appearance of your acne, or have you experienced a similar attitude toward imperfections? Judging from information I've collected so far, it seems like this is a common behavior among acne sufferers.

I have done the same thing for years. I go to a mirror many times throughout the day and stare at my face looking for ANY blemishes no matter how minor. I used to be worse but I am clear on my current regimen so I do it less. I hate to admit it but there was a time when I thought bursting a zit was the best way to get rid of one. I would spend an hour popping each zit and then dab the blood and pus off my face. I wasn't even using bp. AAGGGHH! Now I have enough wisdom to know that a good regimen is the key to controlling acne. I use:

1. 500mg amoxil 9 times a day

2. 1 application of tretinoin mixed with topical clindamycin once a day

3. wash with antiseptic or antibacterial soap (kills p. acnes bacteria on contact) Not always reccomended but it does help. I also use Cetaphil antibacterial bar soap for acne sufferers.

4. Benzaclin twice a day. Benzaclin aka Acanya aka Duac, all of which are a combination of benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin. You get the idea.

Anyway, my point is that getting to smooth clear skin is a good goal and can be achieved if you are aggressive enough at tackling the problem! Peace!
