Overnight Peel- Initial Product Review

So I'll start by sharing my initial thoughts on the Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Overnight Peel (I'll just be calling it "overnight peel" since the name is quite long. The product cost me $16.99 at Ulta. It's a little pricier than I'd normally go, but it's also cheaper than other products like Bio Oil or Mederma. It's a pretty common drugstore brand, so I'm sure you can find it at places like Target, Walgreens, CVS, etc if you don't have an Ulta store near you.

The package claims that the product is a glycolic peel that will fade dark spots, even skin tone, brighten skin, and smooth texture. So it's supposed to help with age spots, acne marks, etc. The product does contain AHA, so it's recommended you use a sunblock with it.

So based on my first use I can tell you that it seems pretty gentle. It didn't burn my skin or sting when I applied it. It did feel a little dry, but I think that's more the nature of the product and not a reaction to it. The one thing that I think should be clarified (and maybe I'm just dumb and I didn't understand the definition of "peel") but this isn't a mask. You don't actually "peel" this off. You apply it to your face, leave it on overnight, and wash it off the next morning. I'd describe it more as a gel or serum. So I guess I don't really know what a "peel" is. It said that it might cause irritation, but so far I haven't experienced any (but that could change). Also as a last note the product did seem to have a nice smell to it.

My initial reaction is that I like the product. Of course how I really feel about it will be dictated by whether I experience any results, which I can't say quite yet. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes!

I'd love to keep hearing about your progress with this---I'm only using Dan's AHA lotion and while I think it helps, I've been toying around with the idea of using a peel...do you know the percentage of glycolic acid in it? How do you like it now that it's been a few days? How often are you planning on using it?

Right now I'm using it nightly. The recommendation based on the products instructions is nightly for four weeks. I'll go back and double check the packaging to see if a percentage is listed, but I don't remember it saying how much was in there. It just listed it as an ingredient. So far I'm still liking it, I haven't had any issues. I'm planning on doing weekly updates on how it's going though.
