Hello everyone! Even though it is day numero 2 of my accutane/claravis journey, I thought it'd be nice to give some feedback as to what happens throughout my time on the drug. Not only that, it'd also be nice not to be alone as I'm the only one I know who is on the medication or has taken it before. Not very fun when you see some of the possible side effects. Yuck! Anyway...a little about my never ending battle with these dreadful pimples.
I am now 21 years old which now makes my time with acne 10 years. That's right. It all started when I was 11. Lets just say it has been a nightmare! I've tried proactiv (total waste), retin A, doxycycline, acanya, clindamycin, differin, peroxide wash, the BC pill and more recently solodyn. I think I forgot a couple but I've had my fair share of topical creams/gels and oral medications. I've finally decided to put forth the money and time for accutane so that I can finally have clear skin! I've heard so many good things I'm at the point where it would totally be worth it. I have moderate/severe acne which is on my face, chest and back. It hasn't been too bad recently thanks to the new BC pill I've been put on but I really don't want to be on the pill plus topicals and solodyn as I have been. It may have even been a combination of everything...who knows?! What's the point of taking medication all the time when my skin isn't even clear?
So here I am with a new job, a new age where I'm legal to do everything and close to finishing school not wanting to live my life with the insecurity of my oily yet dry super sensitive acne prone skin. I've read that aquaphor is the best for your lips so I have been applying (even though I just started) to help with any dryness that may occur. I'm also using cerave wash and moisturizer since I've been using it per my derms instructions. I've also heard lanolin (yes, the stuff used for breast feeding moms) is great for lip dryness throughout accutane so I may need to get some. Then of course there is the good ol' vaseline in the nose to prevent nose bleeds. Hopefully these precautions will help down the road but that is why I decided to blog. If not hopefully some new perspective can help?
Please let me know if there are any tips or suggestions you may have for me as I'm definitely nervous facing the IB stage and dryness coming! Plus, I'm here with any questions anyone may have about my journey as well good luck to everyone with their acne troubles. Trust me, I know how you feel. Cheers to us that we may be acne free soon!
