I have an ongoing prescription for benzaclin. This is due in part to the fact that I run out of topical clindamycin from time to time and I need a topical substitute. The only downside about it is that it burns like hell. It is now 11:00AM and I plan to leave the medication on until 2:30PM. One thing about using benzaclin that is hard is that it is very drying. I use an oil-free non-comodegenic moisturizer after washing. For face wash, I use something unconventional but it works. I use an anti-bacterial "hand soap" on my face. It dissolves oil and kills bacteria. I am still taking my precious amoxil and using tretinoin and spironolactone. I know my days of severe breakouts are behind me since I see a very talented dermatologist. she cleared my cystic acne up totally. What a relief. Even though by looking at current photos of my complexion you may not believe it but two years ago my face was covered with pimples. Small ones, big ones. It was sheer terror every time I faced a mirror. Now I take a hard stance-I use every medication available to me and they all do their part. The only advice I can give newbies is see a dermatologist and never be too afraid to use a medication. I initially was too scared to use Spironolactone. I finally gave it a try though and it seems to help.
