Organic Coconut & Castor Oil: Saving My Face?

Pillbug

8642 views

I finally received my Amazon shipment of natural skincare items and decided to put the oils to the test.

Background info: I (stupidly) resorted to laser treatment for surface imperfections and it made everything worse + broke me out like CRAZY! I haven't broken out this bad since I tried that evil Murad acne system almost ten years ago! Anyways, it's been a depressing few weeks as I watch my complexion get worse everyday. I decided to clear it naturally, after the OTC acne products aggravated my tender skin and left huge red blotches, more oiliness and dried out spots (I can't win!)

Last night I removed my makeup with Costco's organic EVOO. I rinsed and wiped excess then put the organic Coconut oil on a wet face. It felt really greasy. Then I rubbed in some organic cold-pressed castor oil. I trained myself to sleep on my back and this morning--many finicky blackheads are GONE, all the painful, red, bumps are fleeting and for once, my face doesn't hurt. It's the first morning in weeks since there was not some evil new eruption peaking on my skin.

I hope this works out for me in the long run. I feel like I am a dog chasing its own tail in my quest for healthy skin. It's so unfortunate how much damage OTC acne products done--the industry robbed me of good skin and I've been stuck in a vicious cycle or resorting to more hurtful products to fix the problems from the previous product. AH! I need this to work so that I can quit further damaging my skin and actually give it something healthy that has the potential to clear skin and help with anti-aging. :::crossing my fingers!:::

You are feeding surface bacteria with organic coconut oil? Question, if you were diagnosed with strep throat would you take a penicillin anti-biotic or allow the strep to progress into scarlet fever and maybe your demise. My point is, you are fighting bacteria. Period. Oil has never cured acne and I guarantee you will see real results if you take anti-biotics and use topical creams like retin-a. Please stop putting oil on acne prone skin.

organic coconut oil is antifungal and antibacterial. so no he's not feeding surface bacteria. Also studies have shown that the same P.acnes bacteria that everyone thinks causes pimples is also found on the faces of clear skin people...so hmmm..all the bacteria hype is pretty much a myth..

Pillbug the only thing i would caution is to make sure you clean all the oil off well. too much of both oils will clog pores and cause inflammation=acne.as many as well as myself have experienced...so less is more in this case...let us know your results..

Virgin coconut oil. is good, i've neverbroken out but I am not sure it really keeps acne at bay...try taking couple teaspoons a day...severe acne is really an internal problem..

coconut oil is not anti-bacterial , Tea tree oil is. That said the most effective products are differin gel, epiduo, topical clindamycin, benzaclin, Amoxil, Keflex...its just reallly sad to see people using bizarre home remedies for a serious skin disorder...why not use medications prescribed by a medical doctor well versed in treating acne? Thats all I am saying..why not get real help?

Coconut oil never did any good to me. It made my face greasy and I doubt it did anything other than that. I agree with above said, differin, epiduo and such would probably be better for problems with skin. Having said that, I do remove my make up with castor oil or almond oil and it works well for that.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It works for some, not for others. I was researching the oil cleansing methods because my face was so traumatized by the laser that most cleansers felt brutal to my newly sensitive skin. I fell in love with coconut oil--for some reason it healed the zits I picked at and worked great at removing my makeup--but it is def true about needing to wash it off completely after.

The Indian healing mask worked well too, but then I went out and did something STUPID...I got microdermabrasion and HOLY MOLY---cystic acne eruption that is the absolute worse I have ever experienced! I never even had cystic acne before. Awful stuff!
