WEEE, it's spring break!!
This is the morning of my 3rd day on Claravis (so I've still only taken two 40 mg capsules; I'll take the third tonight).
I just tried shaving for the first time while being on the drug, which went fine. I just shaved smoothly and carefully and tried not to cut open any zits, and succeeded in leaving my skin intact. As Acne.org recommends, I shave with a 2-blade razor (I use a Gillette Trac 2, which works fine, although I wouldn't necessarily rate it amazingly or recommend it to others). I use Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel for sensitive skin, which I would recommend. I then washed my face with Cetaphil cleanser, which I've discovered DOES NOT LATHER. It pumps out smooth, you wipe it onto your face smooth, you wash it off smooth. Attempts to lather just make it slide off your hands and you have to pump out more. I don't really mind this, but it was a little confusing at first. I finished by moisturizing with Cetaphil moisturizing lotion, which I find slightly thick and greasy. It doesn't absorb as well as the Acne.org moisturizer, but I think I like the thickness because I feel like it has substance to it and it's actually going to lock in moisture. It doesn't seem to bug my face at all, so huzzah.
I feel like I'm starting to notice a little bit of dryness, in my mouth, my lips, maybe my nose. I've decided to try using Alba Un-Petroleum jelly for my lips; so far it feels really nice. The the Burt's Bees chapstick I was using before always made my lips sting a little after I put it on (no idea why) but this stuff is really mellow and non-irritating.
Face-wise, I'm noticing that some of the little oil plugs around my chin and nose seem to be changing - they protrude a little more from the pore, and when I pull them out they come out longer and a little more solidified than they used to, I think. I also seem to have a large pimple forming on my chin, which I think sprang up fairly quickly Possibly an increase in the number of whiteheads. The skin around my hairline and eyebrows is still quite itchy (the Atralin tretinoin gel's fault?) and it's very difficult not to touch and scratch these areas, but I'm doing my best.
That's all for now. Hope you're all having a good St. Patrick's Day!
