Skin Type, Skincare And Makeup Routine

Hey all,

It's about time I put up my post-acne skincare and makeup routine! It's been about two months since I've updated it in my last post in my previous blog, and I've only changed a little bit of it. I still continue to use acne treatments to prevent further acne, and remain careful about products that may irritate or worsen my skin.

I have combination skin that is best described as dehydrated oily skin. My face feels tight after cleansing, but gets shiny oily throughout the day. I have medium sized pores. Without acne treatment, am prone to MANY blackheads, whiteheads, and the occasional cystic acne spread primarily across my cheeks, and secondarily on my forehead, jawline, and chin. I also get back acne, but it is less severe than my face. I am classified as having moderate to severe acne.

I am Chinese. My hair is naturally dark brown and my skin has yellow to neutral undertones, with a light-medium skin tone range.

Basically the Daniel Kern Regimen (DKR) with different products.

The entire listed regimen is done in order.

*AND indicates usage only when skin requires it - ie. for extra moisture or exfoliation.

*OR indicates usage of only one of the mentioned products because extra product isn't needed - ie. no need for extra moisture or exfoliation.

AM Skincare

Cleanser: Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Foaming Scrub AND/OR Avene Cleanance Soapless Gel Cleanser

Treatment: Neutrogena 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment

Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion AND/OR Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Creme For Face SPF55

Base: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (buy from Amazon/Ebay) AND/OR MAC Studio Finish Concealer

Powder/Set: Cover FX Powder FX Mineral Powder Foundation

Makeup Remover: Kose Softymo White Deep Cleansing Oil (Buy from Amazon/Ebay)

PM Skincare

Cleanser: Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Foaming Scrub AND/OR Avene Cleanance Soapless Gel Cleanser

Treatment: La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo OR Alpha Hydrox 10% Enhanced Creme (switch between them every day)

Moisturizer: CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

Weekly Skincare

Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash/Mask (with salicylic acid)

(US equivalent has benzoyl peroxide: Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask)

AND... there you have it - my skincare and makeup routine. This sounds like a crazy long list of stuff to use, and looks like it takes a lot of time, but in reality it's really quick! My AM Skincare and Makeup combined takes around five minutes to do, and my Makeup Remover and PM Skincare combined takes around six minutes (to allow treatment to absorb). I think once you actually start going on a regimen, doing it is a lot easier than reading about it.

Anyway, hope this helps!
