Braaaiiiinnnnssssss (Day 73)

Happy Halloween everybody!

As a special seasonal gift I am ditching the mask for the day (I do appreciate the irony of being unmasked to wear a costume), partly because my full glory can only be appreciated without it. To achieve this glamourous look, I used skin-toned mineral concealer, light-toned powder foundation, black and silver eyeshadow, black eyeliner and mascara, a couple of leaves and a lot of hair mousse. Seriously, I used a ridiculous amount of hair mousse to mimic the tousled look that could be achieved by one *ahem* sleepless night (or alternatively roughly two to three days of being undead), and even then I could easily've done with more. So now I'm hoping the acne gods will be amused by my attempts and reward me with clear skin, rather than the hideous breakout I suspect will come from being such a heathen.

Today I turned up to the office, and realised once again I'm the only one dressed up. And I had to remind people what day it was (sigh). It's actually quite disturbing the number of people who didn't recognise I was actually "in costume", and thought I just wasn't getting enough sleep. Yup, I am deadly (sorry, couldn't resist!) serious, I turn up to the office looking like that (-> see picture below), and people don't see the difference between me being zombified and the normal me...! ohno.gif Kill me now (tee hee! It never gets old).

I saw three people dressed up across the entire campus, and that included me. It's pitiful really. I know we don't celebrate Halloween Down Under, but come on! Students should at least put in a token effort, they're always keen to dress in costume, right? I'm really surprised I didn't see heaps of blue-painted college students (it's a thing here), and scantily-clad undergraduate girls in various sexy animal / "occupational" costumes. Ah well, hopefully I gave a little bit of entertainment to people who saw me (...even the ones that looked a little frightened and backed away slowly).

I can't wait to go to another Halloween / horror-themed do, I have an awesome costume in mind which should be really easy to achieve; I need to keep an eye out for a long white dressing gown and a cassette tape...

Good effort! :hifive: Sucks that nobody really joined in, and that your colleagues thought you just looked a bit rough...

Haha thanks! I know, I can't believe no one else dressed up!

Actually tonight I saw a colleague at the supermarket after work, and we stop to have a chat, and he asked me "Did you look like that today??" And I was like "Yup, all three times I waved or said hello to you today!", hahaha! Perceptive as Sh- ...erlock ;)

Ha ha, I think you should start wearing it around more often. Goth cum homeless person works for you. ;) Sadly I didn't dress up today, so I can't really talk, but I also didn't leave the house. To make up for it, I watched Nightmare Before Christmas tonight. I feel that the gods will be satisfied with my efforts, and I have stored my grain for the upcoming winter and will aim to sacrifice a housemate to gain more approval.

On another note, if I click "follow this entry" do any comments on the blog show up in my notifications? Dagnabbit! I need a more efficient way to see comments.

Hahaha! I have never actually heard someone say "Oh my shit!" before! It's actually kind of hilarious, I may have to poach it. Is it a WA thing? And yes, I certainly did, twigs and all. I have a "healthy" amount of self-confidence, hehehe.

Why thank you... Gothic hobo is the new hipster, didn't you know? Yes, it should show comments if you click "follow this entry". I think. Is that your excuse as to why so many of Resery's and my comments remained unanswered, hmm? ;)

You are very very welcome to poach "oh my shit". I myself poached it from one of my Y's (Louise) from whom I poach most of my hip and happening sayings. Another one of hers (which is a personal favourite) is "front vagina". As in "do I have a front vagina in these jeans". To this day, none of us (including herself) really understood what she was asking. Another of hers that I use quite often is "these tights are so pant" (instead of these pants are so....yup, you get it). I could write a book of her sayings.....another I hear you ask? She came into work one morning telling us "I watched a doco last night and the dentist said that children who wear braces talk much strangely".

And I do enjoy your "healthy' amount of self-confidence. Hey, you should totes write a blog! :)

Oh and yes Om, you certainly DO leave a terrible number of messages unanswered. I mean, I'm STILL waiting for your RSVP to my social media acceptable funeral.

"Do I have a front vagina in these jeans?". Hmm... I'm actually not sure of the appropriate response. Is that a good or a bad thing?! I guess it could be either! Hehehe "Talk much strangely".

I should write a blog? I am writing a blog! Or you mean an external blog. ...Do you have a blog?? You do, don't you? You've been holding out on me!

Its true I admit it. I have an external blog where I don't babble on incessantly about acne. Don't you?

I'm sorry!! I will be trying this new method and hopefully will actually respond. If my responses work... I also have an external blog/organisation: istalk.org. What is this social media acceptable funeral?!

Okay I read that as "is talk"; I think I officially need more coffee, or at least to not do any work for the next couple of hours... Yay for Melbourne Cup Day! I couldn't find a hat though (okay I totally didn't look, too lazy), so I'm wearing bumble bee antennae instead. Totally works.

It was in one of the many, many amazingly-insightful comments that you missed due to your snobnicity.

By the way, did you listen to Tighten Up by The Black Keys? You didn't, did you? You're so slack.

Lol, did you win anything?

Well I just listened to it. I like them, I especially enjoyed the last bridge. The videoclip was a little weird...I also don't mind some Ash Grunwald, I saw him at the Byron Blues Fest a couple of years ago. He did this sweet cover of Bohemian Rhapsody and Breakout was good as well.

Oh man, I wish I wore bumble bee antennae. I arrived at the restaurant feeling pretty good, and every woman on the table had a fascinator on and they MADE me go and buy one. You know how any woman over the age of 40 (well lets make that 39) shouldnt wear a fascinator? Well its for a reason...because it just makes you look old and dumb. But bumble bee antennae on the other hand, I feel can be carried off with aplomb by all age groups. Damn.

You should've worn bumble bee antennae, that move scored me a free bottle of wine for best "hat", ye-a!

I bet you totally rocked the fascinator look (for some reason in my head I always pronounce that as "faskinator"), especially with the healthy orange glow of a fake tan! ;) Hehehe. Excellent, that was exactly the word I was looking for; "aplomb". I was extremely refined with my antennae bobbing around, I'll admit. I had numerous people stare (in jealousy, of course), and one or two people even felt like they needed to poke them periodically, just to make sure they weren't actually real I'm sure.

I'm glad you liked it, that's what I consider to be blues/pub rock-type music. I must admit I haven't actually watched their videoclips, haha! But I can see that they might be a little... unusual... I might do that now (yay for procrastination!). I shall also check out this Ash Grunwald you speak of.
