So I started using the benzoyl peroxide only during the day and started using Avene's cream gel at night to get rid of the dry skin and flakies, which AHAs tend to fix by chemical exfoliation. It's what the DKR suggests - BP for the day and AHA at night - so yeah.
Avene's helped fix up the flaking skin and has definitely helped exfoliate the past two nights that I used it, and my skin isn't as irritated as a result of using BP once a day instead of twice a day.
At the moment my skin looks pretty good- active breakouts are nonexistent at the moment, and my acne has diminished a lot. I still have a few scabs here and there, and some hyperpigmentation, but my skin looks good.
I even went to Sephora yesterday with no makeup on and asked for skincare products that help treat acne and the assistants looked at my face and were like "What acne?". Haha. I had to explain that I'd been using BP for about a week now.
We'll see. I think what I'll do is stick to the DKR with different products a bit longer, switch out my cleanser for a gentle cleanser with no acne treatments in it, and see what happens.
I'm also thinking of getting Estee Lauder Double Wear or Double Wear Light foundations to even out my skin. I need to repurchase my MAC concealer... But when I think about it, I actually haven't bothered with wearing any makeup lately, especially since it's the summer and its hot, so I don't know if it's worth buying anyway.
