My Quest Starts Again
Hello,
I am sort of new here. Although in my years of trying to cure my acne, I have come across this site many times, I just never tried the regimen before. Let me start with my backstory first.
I am currently 36-½ year old female who lives in a major metropolitan area in the Northeast USA. I have been battling acne since I was 11. I have suffered from acne longer than not. I do mean I have suffered, both emotionally and physically. I will not go into the struggles I have faced (no pun intended) over the last 25 years right now because I am still not over the emotional pain my acne has caused me. Eventually I would like to write about it because I have read that writing can be emotionally healing. This blog is mostly going to be about my journey to better skin not a “whine fest†about how I was tormented as teen for my bad skin. I do not say, “perfect “skin because I know I will never have that. I just want it to good enough that I can feel confident again.
In the last 25 years, I have been on every drug imaginable in order to clear my skin and I have tried everything, such as antibiotics, OTC topical medicines, prescription topical medicines, Proactiv, Retin – A, Accutane and home remedies. Some have worked for a while and then stopped. Some never worked. Some made my skin dry and some broke me out even worse. I really need a plan I can stick with that causes the least amount of side effects.
As a teen, my acne was very severe cystic acne. Now it’s more moderate with an occasional giant cyst usually around the time of my period. I have to admit, the Accutane I took when I was 18 helped somewhat but I refuse to go back on it as a 36 year old. The side effects were awful and I care not to live through that again. That is why I am going to try the regimen put forth on this site in conjunction with a healthy diet and some exercise (losing some weight wouldn’t hurt me either.)
I really don’t care if anyone ever reads this. I am doing this for me only. I am starting this blog for a couple of reasons:
1. To document my progress on Dan’s Acne.org skin care regimen and keep me accountable to the regimen
2. To document my diet / exercise progress and keep me accountable to my exercise schedule
I am going to try to have shorter posts in the future just because I do not like writing too long of posts. Most of my posts will just be a list of what I accomplished during the day/ week.
I have not received my product kit yet, so I have not started yet. In the meantime I am not going to use any products on my face so I can start fresh once I receive the package. I have decided to change my diet as well. This week I will start eliminating sugar from my diet. My plan for this week is as follows:
1. Exercise 3 times this week for a hour of cardio followed by some weight resistance machines
2. Elimination diet: Remove sugar from diet
3. Add fruit and vegetables to my diet
