Day 14 (Week 2)-Morning

Yo,

So, I had originally been updating my progress on my regular site, until a fellow member informed me that there was a specific section for blogs! So, alas, here I am! If you have read my progress thus far, this is probably nothing new to you, but for others out there, here is my personal background:

Hi all :(, I am a 21 (going to be 22 in August) year old that just graduated college and is getting married on August 27th. I have an awesome fiance, and I am pretty lucky!

(WARNING: this will be long..)

I started getting acne when I was around 12 years old. That is when my period hit as well. Go figure. I got it on my chest pretty bad and my face. After about a year, it calmed down a bit and I just got regular hormonal acne, that was pretty mild, though I hated it of course. At around the age of 15, I was prescribed birth control, due to an ovarian cyst. I can't completely remember the brand, but it had to be strong due to the evil cyst. Well, the cyst went away and so did my acne. Occassionally I would have a cyst every other month or so, but besides that I was golden. Then disaster struck. At the age of 19 I went of birth control, mostly because I didn't need it and it was a nuissance. About 1-2 months after my acquittal from the pill, I began to break out HORRIBLY. Cystic acne on my chest, back, and face. It was awful. I wouldn't leave my room and I was violently depressed. After about 3 or 4 months of this, my derm prescribed Accutane. It worked great. Acne was gone....for 5ish months. Then it came back pretty bad, but not as bad as before. So, I underwent another round of Accutane and was clear for almost 2 years, with the occassional pimple. Even though Accutane demands it, I never went on BC during this time.

About 2 months ago, I went on BC again, for ovarian cysts, protection, etc. I began to break out a little before I even went on the pill, and then kept breaking out my first month on the pill. This was also around my 2 year mark off of Accutane, which my derm told me some people start to break out again. I think it was a mixture of all of these things. I can't go off the pill, and when I do I will wean myself off and be more careful...but for now...I decided I needed to kick acne's butt! So, my last and final option was the DKR regimen.

I am using these products:

Clean & Clear Oil Free Cleanser

DKR BP

Cetaphil Moisturizer

And, I have ordered the jojoba oil, btu I'm taking it slow because it frightens me, lol. But, I will let you guys know how that goes.

As for now, here is my status.

RED, three new guys on my forehead, and clogged pores on my cheek. I am just so red and FLAKEY! It's terrible. So terrible that I just want to tear off all of the flakes. I am often not gentle sometimes due to the flakes, which I know I need to work on. I wear hardly any make up right now because it would just flake off, I just use it on marks, not on clogged pores or anything...but once I'm clear I will hopefully put a small amount everywhere (or maybe not use any at all! that would be a miracle, lol). I use Almay foundation and sometimes a timy bit of Clinique concealer.

But, I am mostly just flakey and red...and its summer! Which bums me out  and I'm getting married and going to Hawaii on my honeymoon.

I currently have Cetaphil sunblock, and I will probably introduce that when I will be outside a lot. And I will USE hats  I notice when I'm outside even just for a bit my skin gets even more red, which sucks, big time.

So, right now I'm going to try and use more jojoba and see how that goes (IAM SO NERVOUS GUYS!!!) but I need the redness and flakiness to STOP! And maybe be thinking about slowly incorporating sunscreen when needed (which is almost everyday..)

I will be putting some photos in my 'Gallery' soon, but if you want to see some now, you can go to my main page and and click on the topic 'Starting the REGIMEN tonight!' (I think is what it's called).

Alright, will update tonight probably! :(

Cheers,

austinda

I read all of the comments you've posted previously because I too am new to the Regimen and I'm on day 15... similar things I'm dealing with like you, redness, darkening of the skin?? which I still don't understand // know how to get rid of? I have been putting 5-8 drops of Jojoba oil into the moisturizer before I put it on my face, and well, I started doing that before the peeling and flakes started... boy did it START and kick my butt while it was at it. I absolutely hate the peeling/flaking. :- I have a blog too, that I JUST made today so I posted pictures of what my face looks like... if that is something you'd want to look back on.. and know that your skin is GORGEOUS. I'm insanely jealous of your skin! Haha, it really is gorgeous.I think we're pretty much going through this together! I started the 7th.Good luck to you!

Thank you so much! You are so sweet!!! :doubt: Your face looks great as well! How do you like the jojoba? I know, I HATE THE PEELING/REDNESS. This morning and tonight I was totally not gentle...which is terrible but I couldn't take the flakes. I think the flakes cause some of my clogged pores as well :/ I think. So, I was a little harsher than normal..which is NOT good. I need to stop that, haha. The "tanness" is sort of subsiding, but the redness isn't...haha, but it's only week 2, so we gotta hang in there! :( it's truly awful though, haha. Well keep me updated! I love that we are on the same page here!

Oh! And also, I was watching this girl's YouTube channel, 2 videos specifically and I just thought it was pretty uplifting and interesting. Maybe you'll feel the same way.

She also has one on using oatmeal and some water as a face wash/exfoliant thing.. I also read something on a freshly squeezed lemon that works well on the face? But see, the problem with being ON the Regimen is that, we really don't have the option to try new things, because once you take it off, you have to reapply everything. Mehh..What I definitely DID find interesting from that link I gave you was how uplifting she was over everything, and that she encourages us to work on what we put in our body and how we treat our bodies. ie. exercising, eating healthier, etc. Which, I really don't do.. But starting yesterday I've been drinking a TON of water. Hoping that hydrates my skin some. I don't know. :-

So glad you have found my blog! it's great being able to connect and listen to your insights. I definitely have clogged pores, but they have died down a bit. The first week they were on my whole nose and cheeks. Now I probably have two whiteheads on my cheeks. My guess is that all of the pores are being "cleaned" meaning they will most likely "purge" a bit :/ which is good, but not good, lol. Yeah, the jojoba hasn't shown me a miracle yet, but who knows. I have only been wearing it for a few days. I know! I have been scartching my flakes off too!!!! I try not to, I really do, but I see alot of people at work and I just can't be peeling all of the time, ya know? I have reduced my BP a bit, and I think I am going to see how much I can reduce it without breaking out, just because I am so red...then maybe build up from there. I still use the full amount at night though, just not during the day...but I am thinking about decreasing my amount at night as well. I'm at work so I can't watch the youtube video, but I will for sure! :)Yes, I have changed a lot of my habits as well. I only drink water--no soda, milk, juce, nada. I will occassionally have some lemonade or something, but that is it. I have actually been doing this for two months or so. I actually have green smoothies almost every morning, and I love them! They are really easy to make it's great. I have eaten more vegan friendly things as well, and I have cut out most dairy (minus some cheese, and only occassionally). I'm thinking about cutting out some of my wheat intake as well...but that will be REALLY hard for me, lol. I exercise probably twice a week, but I need to do it more. For info. on diet and anything holistic, you should definitely check out TheLoveVitamin.com. It's run by a girl who has been apart of acne.org for a long time and she completely cleared her acne holitically. While I do not follow EVERYTHING she says (she is against BP & Birth control for example, both of which I do) but she is great for advice on natural foods, shampoos, skin care, recipes, etc. I think it is great that some people can cure their acne from within, but it is definitely hard to do, but I'm looking into it more as time goes on. Not to say I'm giving up on BP or anything, but eating good and doing topicals could be potentially great together I think. Also, do you get red patches? I got one today and if you have read my recent post, I am midly freaking out. I don't know if it is a pimple forming or what but it's making me edgy! haha :)Hope to hear from you soon, austinda

Aw, thank you so much for the suggestion on thelovevitamin site. I really appreciate that. I am definitely saving it and looking back on it for future reference. And on red patches.. YES, I had this red patch under my eye and I wasn't sure what it was, if it was an allergic reaction or something, it was new and it went away within 2 days after. Not sure if it's the same red patch you have. Mine was right under my right eye and it was kind of sore to the touch and rough.Let me know when yours clears up!
