I am new to acne.org. I have suffered from acne for about 12 years. It started when I was 8 and I still have it at the age of 20. I have tried OTC, infomercials, and dermatologists. I have gotten my face zapped a couple years back. For 2 years by face was pretty clear. no big cysts or white head peaks rested either on my chin or tucked in between my nostril and cheek. A few months ago, I began to break out again. It might possibly have to do with the fact that I had gotten off my birth control. I simply refuse to be on it just for the facial benefits if there was any. I stopped taking them just about a year ago. Anyways I noticed that the area around my chin and jaws have been breaking out like crazy which was a weird spot; the typical pattern for adults. I have graduated from adolescent embarrassment into adult acne. 3 weeks ago I started doing chemical peels. Not the ones that pratically singe your face off, but the gentler type. I have invested a good amount of money for this service..and some into a dermalogica overnight clearing gel. All was fairly hopeful, I had a minor break out each week. Til this past week right before my third treatment, I broke out like someone splattered red polka dots all over my face. Is it my diet? My water intake? Do I really need to purchase a 60 dollar cleanser that a poor college student should be saving? I guess what I am saying is that I am working my butt off, and its hard to stay positive..I am half way through my treatment, and I anyone would be willing to offer encouragement I would be very accepting.
