Alright! Last month of accutane! I'm really excited to be almost done with this! So I haven't posted since about month 2, just been really busy.. But anyways, my skin is doing A LOT better. It's crazy to me how well this stuff works. Overall, I only have a couple of red marks left on my face, and I haven't even had a pimple since like my first month on the stuff! My face/neck is totally smooth! I love it! Now here's hoping it stays that way when I'm off the pills..
I've still been taking 60 mg/day of Claravis, nothing has changed there, my derm said I probably wouldn't need a higher dosage since it's been working so well so that's still how much I'm taking. Haven't had any new side effects or anything, but still just dealing with the dry skin and chapped lips. For anyone that struggles with their lips being dry all the time(which is probably anyone taking accutane) all I can say is AQUIFER!! That stuff is great, I've been using it the whole time, no other chapstick even comes close for me. Still using cetaphil face wash and cetaphil face cream, it's really moisturizing which I like. I just picked up my last prescription of Accutane a couple of days ago, and I'm going to have a follow-up appt with my derm towards the end of the month so she can tell me what she thinks. I haven't seen her since the end of month 1, so I'm looking forward to see what she thinks and where I will go after the Accutane.
Since I'm not completely finished with this drug yet, I guess I can't say yet for sure, but as of right now, I feel really grateful that I took it because I feel like I have so much more confidence now. I wasn't one of those people with terrible terrible acne to begin with, but I had it bad enough to have it alter my moods at times and even make me less social if I had a bad breakout. I felt like before, I was constantly worrying about my skin and how it looked, and it's not perfect now, but I barely think twice about it now and a lot of times don't even put on makeup anymore. It's just nice not to constantly be having breakouts anymore and stressing about it. I'm almost 21 years old, I want to be done with acne! And assuming that it won't come back when I'm off accutane(fingers crossed!) I feel like this drug has been the answer for me. I only wish I would have taken it sooner, or at least discussed it with a dermatologist sooner. So I say for anyone wondering about Accutane or hesitant about taking it, I say discuss it with your dermatologist and weigh the risks, but don't not take it because you hear horror stories because millions of people have taken it and it really does work for most! I'm going to post a pic to my album if anyone is interested.. I would post a link to it but I don't know how.. sorry. So I will let you know how my follow up appt goes, and here's to anyone finishing up their first round of accutane! Woo hoo!!
