So today is Day 8 of accutane and some of the redness from the pics (see my gallery) has subsided.
Side effects: My lips are surprisingly not that dry. They feel extra soft actually (weird)...it's almost as if my face feels feverish from time to time and that somehow results in my lips being softer. I use a Clinique lip balm at night and a balm from Bath and Body Works during the day (I think it's called Bigelow's Plum Mint...works like a dream and is minty and has a nice color)
Skin is definitely dry...hardly any oil production if none at all. When I put on makeup you can tell my face is dry, regardless of moisturizing prior. I use Clinique makeup because it is good for sensitive skin and is non-comodogenic. I am not crazy about their formula because it seems to go on a little heavy but I need the full coverage plus I prefer it knowing that it is better for my skin than other makeup brands. I used to used Chanel Mat Lumiere in Claire which is very expensive but WORTH it. Once my skin is all cleared up I think I will switch back to this formula because it is very light, fresh, and matches the skin so naturally. Then again...maybe I won't need makeup!
I am using vitamin E oil twice a day on my skin for the red marks and I can honestly say that within the 8 days that I have been using it, it has really improved the redness and evened out the tone. I will continue to use this throughout my treatment so hopefully at the end of it, my red marks will be significantly gone. I have heard that Clinique's Even Better Spot Corrector Moisturizer is really good...anyone every tried it??
I am taking 1,000 mg of fish oil a day and I really think that it helps with the dryness, in addition to the other health benefits it provides. I am also thinking of adding vitamin E pills to this, since I am only using it topically. I think it should be safe.
I will post pictures soon to track progress. Good luck to all of you!!!
