I am so glad I found this site! I am 45 years old and have suffered with acne for over 30 years!

It is so frustrating and has affected everything in my life from work to my marriage. I have tried everything and nothing solves this problem for good. To make everything worse I PICK at everything so I am walking around with these huge scabs on my face. Not a good look!

I have been on accutane 3 times. It works for about 2 years and then the zits come back. I have had blue light treatment - total waste of money! I was on minocycline for years and birth control. As soon as I stopped taking them everything came right back. I am trying chemical peels now. I have had one so far so its too soon to tell if it will work. I think IPL might help but its too expensive for me right now - $400 a session!

I have been obsessed with my looks forever. The aging process is not fun and worrying about wrinkles and sagging is made much worse with scabby zits on the jowels. I literally search for women when I am out who have the same type of issues and I dont see anyone! Makes me feel very alone and freakish.

My husband (who has clear skin!) is very tired of hearing my complain about this acne. I spend alot of weekends inside because I am too embarrassed to go out. Reading this I sound like very self-absorbed and a bit ridiculous but I cant help it. I am too old for this S**T!! :(

Does anyone have any tips to share that might help?

you might want to talk to a doctor to see if they will give you a Bactrim type medicine. I had really severe cystic acne, and before i started accutane, i was put on Septra, which is a Brand of Bactrim. It clears out the infection that causes acne, and it was the only thing i had tried that cleared my skin so fast and even when i went off it to start accutane, my cysts didn't come back in the time i was off it.
