So today marks the seventh day I have been off of accutane (after 5 months of 40, 60, and 80mg). Overall, I haven't noticed much change at all. My lips don't seem to be quite as dry and I no longer look like Rob Pattinson in the first Twilight movie, so that's good. I'm still using Aquafor but probably half as much as before. My skin is still dry but not peeling and my oil hasn't returned yet. I figure it took about 2 weeks for my skin to stop producing oil, so it will probably take about the same to start up again. My arms are still very dry and I'm still getting rough patches and eczema flair ups.
My skin is pretty much clear, but still splotchy, and the red marks from blemishes that occured while on accutane are still present. i had one new, tiny, 'normal people zit' this morning but I'm not upset about it. What I am upset about is the hole in my cheek from that cortisone shot. NEVER AGAIN. This scar is far worse than anything acne has ever left behind. BEWARE CORTISONE INJECTIONS.
It's sort of funny that I'm so used to having clear skin now. I almost can't remember how terrible things were before. I actually had to go back and read my own posts to recall how I was feeling pre-accutane. I'm trying to prepare myself for relapse because I've heard that people with incredible oily skin relapse more than others. We'll see...
