Hey I've posted a few times on here. My doctor said I might go on accutane, but he said that a couple months ago and I'm going back in 1 month. I WANT to go on it. So what should I do to make him put me on it. My acne isn't horrible but I have slot of red marks and get pustules like once a week so it sucks. Other questions: what is the best regimen on accutane, how many times a day did you wash your face, if you've been off for a while did your acne come back, does it lessen scars on your face, did you experience an IB, and would I take the pill right before I eat in the middle of eating or right after I eat? So I'm new to this - only on Day 5. But I'll share what I know. All of my past derms recommended or asked me if I'd like to give it a try. So all you should have to do is tell him/her that you would like to start it as soon as you can. If you have to, list all the other topical/oral meds you've been on, assuming nothing has worked. So I've reviewed many, many blogs about the regimen. Here's what I've heard is the best.Wash your face morning and night with Cetaphil facewash/bar. (Another poplular choice is Dove).Apply lotion after washing (no toner). Most popular lotion I've heard is the Cetaphil SPF 15 lotion, and when really dry the Cetaphil cream. I've also heard that the Aveeno Ultra Calming lotion is good, and the Neutrogena Light Night Cream, as well.No other topical creams or anything. The Accutane is enough. And for the dry lips, Dr. Dan's Cortibalm and Aquaphor are the #1s. Again, I'm only on Day 5, so not a pro or anything. I have not experienced an IB (yet), not even close. Just today did I get a little bit of dry skin. I take the pill in the morning during breakfast. My derm said for 70% of people they need to do two courses, while for 90% they just need one course to be rid for good.As far as scars, I don't think it does. But again, this is just from reading this site.Hope that helps at least a little. Good luck with your derm.

hey I've felt like I've been repeating myself over and over telling my story with accutane, but as the last comment said you won't need much topically while on accutane. Can I ask what you're using now for a regimen? Are you still on antibiotics?I experienced the worst time of my life while on accutane. There were a lot of factors like a breakup, working graveyard shift, school full-time, etc that made me an emotional wreck. I don't think the accutane was necessarily the cause of this, but I think it was a large contributor. To be honest, I went through hell while on it. It did help with cystic acne, but it didn't cure it for me. :-/ It sounds like your acne is moderate and not very severe, which you might have more success with accutane. Obviously it will work, but I'm not sure if I personally would do it again. Good luck!
