First Week on Accutane

HISTORY

I guess I'll give a break background on my personal experiences with acne :) lol. So i have been breaking out since I was 11 years old (I'm currently 20). I never had severe acne more like mild-moderate. Its just ALWAYS been a nuisance. I have been on almost everything, proactiv acne free, prescriptions, antibiotics. EVERYTHING. The sad part is some of the things I've tried have worked its just that all of a sudden my body would build up an immunity to it and BAM here thy come again! *cue the violins* :D

After almost 4 yrs with my Derm she suggested that I go on Accutane. She said that other derms would probably think she was crazy for putting me on Accutane because its ususally prescribed for people with severe cystic acne, but she knew that my acne is very persistant and nothing she's put me on has had a lasting effect. I was a little apprehensive because like everyone else I had heard some crazy side effects about Accutane. So i did my research and decided that I would begin taking it. I am just SOOO tired of breaking out. I'm starting to get small scars because of my presistant acne, and I break out allll over my body. URGHH soooo annoying and it makes me feel so self conscious. I have SOO many acne scars on my back .

So anyway I just started my regimen Wednesday (Jan 19th ), 20mgs of Amnesteem twice a day.(40 Mg in total). I haven't experienced any side effects as of yet *knocks on wood* and I hope I dont!! The only thing is my skin just started breaking out worse than usual yesterday. I have like 10 pimples on my face right now and its getting on my LAST nerve. Im praying that this is as bad as it will get because I'm already getting pretty worried.

I want to track my progess throughout my journey for you guys as well as my self so Ill defintely keep you guys posted. WISH ME LUCk :D

Hi there! I am on my 18th day on my accutane treatment, and I really hope you have great success with it. Right now I have major breakouts, and it makes me feel really self councious...But they say it takes a good 30 days to see a difference....they say it gets worse before it gets better...And I totally understand about having acne all your life...I'm right with you....ugh...it sucks

Hi! I just started taking accutane on Jan 11th. I will follow up on your blog from time to time to compare progress. I am on 20mg 2xa day (40 mg total) just like you. So far Ive had the dry lips. Aquaphor is my best friend! The first couple days I had dull headaches and I was very sleepy throughout the day. I have slept really well though since I have been on accutane. I see a little improvement in my skin, the small little pimples are all ove rmy face still, but seems like they are slowly going away. I am waiting for the IB! Im dreading it actually! Good luck on your journey

Hi! I finished a five month accutane course over a month ago, and it was the best thing I ever did. I uploaded a before/after album because that's what I wanted to see when I started- inspiration! I recently started a blog after being disappointed by the lack of bloggers dealing with such an important topic- feel free to check it out and comment/follow (honestlybec.blogspot.com), I would greatly appreciate it and it might help :boohoo: Good luck with your treatment- I hope it works perfectly!
