Week 11 Day 5

Hey everyone,

My face is red and the flaking has started just like I thought it would so I just drowned my chin with more Cetaphil. So far, it seems to be working. BP stung like crap when I put it on this morning although I only put it on my the apples of my cheeks and even then, probably only half a pump.

Current status: One pore size zit which has come to a head at the corner of my upper lip, One slightly bigger zit on my chin. 2 dying zits from 3 days ago.

I think the BP irritates the areas where I don't usually breakout (i.e. upper lip, chin) and causes more breakouts instead.

I think I'm going to keep putting the BP instead of taking a break like I did a couple of days ago but I'm probably going to use a smaller amount, like half a pump or so on the problem areas only and on isolated zits. I need to find a balance between maintaining clear skin and not having to deal with the red face and flakiness. At this point, I don't think it's a matter of getting used to the BP anymore - I think my skin is too sensitive to handle BP twice a day in 1.5 pump amounts. Or is it better to keep with the 1.5 pumps but to use it only at night?

And I'm pretty sure that the BP prolongs the PIH healing time too. Once, I got a freak zit on my forehead (where I don't use BP) which left a dark mark but it's been 3 weeks and it's disappeared. On the other hand, the marks I got from the chin breakout 6 weeks ago are still there.

It's kinda frustrating to have to choose between a normal looking face with 4-6 medium zits and/or bumps and a red, flakey face with a few small zits.

Hey bluepickles!I had the exact same problem--I almost NEVER break out on my cheeks or forehead but once I started on the regimen I started getting pimples there. So I decided to lessen the amount of BP I was using and only use it on my problem areas (and spot treat the few lingering pimples on my forehead and cheeks). Even though I haven't been slathering my forehead/cheeks in BP for awhile, they're still super flaky and haven't yet fully recovered. I'm hoping this experiment works! Good luck to you too :-

Hey ohdear! Yeah, sucks to break out in areas where you've always been clear! But don't worry, they'll probably all go away soon since these weren't your problem areas to begin with. Anyway, for me, I haven't put BP on my chin and forehead in about a week and I haven't had any new breakouts there yet so I guess if it ain't broken, don't fix it right! :( Hope your cheeks and forehead stop flaking soon. :) Good luck!
