Ok I started my first week of Accutane on November 12th, 2010.
So far it has been 1 week and 1 day and all I've experience is DRY LIPS, HOLY MOLY!
My face has been pretty dry as well but moisturizer helps alot.
I have not had any other problems so far but after reading some people's blogs in which their scalp was getting dry and itchy I have started to itch mine as well (might just be in my head, literally)
So anyways, I have mild acne but I have had it since high school, I am now 21, going on 22 in a week. In high school I had normal hormonal breakouts that I dealt with through topicals. Once I got into college was when the real acne began, cysts all over my left side of my face that I was so embarrassed I would purposely wear my hair down to cover that side of my face. I also constantly tanned in tanning salons to help hide the appearance of the acne on my skin.
I decided to go on birth control (Yaz) to help control the breakouts, since many of my friends were on it and it helped control their breakouts as well. After 3 months being on BC it was like magic. NO PIMPLES! For the next 2-3 years I just broke out occasionally, little zits here and there but I barely needed to wear make-up. I felt great.
Until this past summer, I broke out like crazy. Not sure if it was the stress of graduating, finding a job and some personal issues I dealt with but it was devastating. I also stopped tanning (I previously worked at a tanning salon, and once I graduated I left that job to look for full-time employment.) So not only was I breaking out terribly but I was also pale, making the acne stand out even more.
So I broke done last month and was like that is it, I am going on accutane, and here I am.
My normal regimen for the week is to wake up and wash my face with PROACTIV Cleanser, use PROACTIV Toner, Jergen's Natural Glow Moisturizer (to give my face some type of color), Benefit Tinted Moisturizer (As my Make-up.)
Once or twice a week I also use Aveeno Cleansing Pads which are these circler pads I use in the shower that have these little scrubbers that really help to get all the dry skin off my face, it can leave my face feeling a little raw but I feel its necessary because I cannot stand the dry skin on my face.
I use Aquaphor about 1000x a day! I have 1 next to my bed, 1 on my desk at work and 1 in my purse with me at all times. I literally feel like my lips are peeling off!
I really enjoyed reading everyone's blogs about Accutane because I was very nervous of the symptoms before I started. I am going to try and post as often as I can, Pleas add your comments or suggestions!
