Why the regimen changeup?
My face is just getting terrible - scabs, peeling skin, acne everywhere - red, inflamed, some cystic, and some scabbing. It's a nightmare - I decided to hold off a lot on the medication and just let my skin heal with minimal meds for now. My face is just a giant mess of redness and scabbing and red spots. The under-the-skin acne is back, and blackheads are everywhere.
I got Eucerin Everyday Protection Face Lotion because I realized my skin is now a lot oilier now that I haven't been taking doxycycline, and the La Roche Posay makes me look shiny.
I got St. Ives Apricot Scrub because Retin A Micro isn't sloughing off the dead skin effectively; instead it's leaving giant areas of skin that are peeling but not coming off. With the doxycycline my skin exfoliated really well.
I got Rimmel's Foundations because I saw reviews and heard that they were pretty decent foundations, especially for the price (they're $7 or $8, don't remember). Both of the foundations, which I got yesterday, are non-comedogenic and oil-free. My current foundations (Laura Mercier Oil Free, Paula Dorf Oil Free, Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer, and MAC Face and Body) were not cutting it. I ended up an oily mess at the end of the day, and my foundation sloughed off so I needed something with oil control that wouldn't transfer.
I'm only going to medicate with Retin-A-Micro on my forehead and temples, which doesn't have peeling skin. Hopefully the acne will clear up a bit tomorrow.
