My face is terrible. Red spots and acne everywhere, blackheads and whiteheads galore and peeling skin from the Retin A. I can't even cover up the acne correctly with foundation because of this.
I'm feeling a bit frustrated at this point because I've been off of doxycyline for a month now, and it's obvious that the doxycycline really did help fight the acne on my face. Under circumstances that I can't explain, I haven't been able to get the meds and it's been really frustrating for me because I've tried to do all I could to get them.
Today I bought St. Ives Apricot Scrub to help exfoliate some of that dead skin that Retin A has been giving me (though my skin is great when I'm on Retin A AND doxy) and Eucerin's Everyday Protection SPF 30 Sunscreen. I think my La Roche Posay sunscreen might be the culprit to my oiliness these past few weeks that I haven't posted, and I'll start using the Eucerin tomorrow.
I've been feeling more and more like a shut in these past few days since my skin has gotten so bad again that I don't want to go out and face people. I feel myself falling back into that pattern of scrounging for acne products and foundation at drugstores to cover up my face. It was really compelling to buy a new foundation for me today (Revlon Colorstay was on sale for $8!) but thankfully I made myself leave before I could do it. When it comes down to it, I know that most other foundations will just end up clogging my pores and making my acne worse.
The Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation isn't cutting it this time with my skin being in this condition. Not only do I have acne and clogged blackheads all over my face, I have inflamed acne and peeling skin - which really just makes the worst base for any kind of makeup or foundation. My flaky skin is highlighted with foundation and my acne barely covered, even with my MAC Studio Finish concealer on. I also have these really odd miniscule red spots around my eyes now too - not sure where it's from.
I think the fact that I can't even cover up the acne appropriately bothers me more than how my acne looks, 'cause at least when you have bad acne you can cover it up pretty well if you don't have broken skin, inflamed acne, and peeling skin like I do.
F*CK. Why is acne so frustrating? My skin sucks.
