Shalom! This past Friday (October 8th) marks my 2nd week using Accutane. So far I have extremely dry sky (particularly on my face). I have tried to combat this with a few things:
1) Arbonne Re9 Nourishing Day Cream:
-I absolutely adore this formula. Jam-packed with vitamins and moisture-rich minerals, it
always seems to give my skin the perfect balance before make-up application. Never
greasy. Never sticky. Just perfect.
2) Dove Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture
-I'm a faithful user of this body wash. I cannot even describe to you the wonders that this
product works. My skin (especially my stomach) is a soft as a baby's bottom. It's
fantastic. Because of this, I don't have to moisturize my body after the shower/before
bed. It delivers enough moisture in the shower to last for 24 hours.
3) Origins "Night-a-mins"
-A bit pricey, but well worth it. My skin literally drinks it up. It's a heavy cream, drowned in
vitamins B-complex, C, E and A. It naturally exfoliates the face (and does NOT have a
gritty texture at all). It's fantastic. I wake up and my skin is less red. **Plus, the aroma
helps you sleep!**
Both DAYTIME and NIGHTTIME
4) Arbonne Corrective Eye Cream
- Easily Arbonne's best-seller in their Re9 collection, and for good reason. It moisturizes
your entire eye area beautifully, and because of tiny peptides included in the state-of-
the-art formula, your eyes are literally "plumped" nearly instantaneously. I couldn't live
without this product--Accutane or not. Lol
5) Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion (For All Skin Types)
-I use this on my body whenever I need to. I works so well. I absolutely love it. Not greasy
by any means. My skin loves it!
-Ahhh, to combat the dreaded dry lips! Chapstick doesn't quite cut it for me. I need extra
moisture, and Vaseline does the job! Sure, it's kind of awkward to randomly whip out a jar
of Vaseline in the middle of lecture, or while student teaching the kids, but it's well worth
the embarrassment. My lips feel instantly replenished. LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff.
I've continued to work out 6 days a week. No joint pain or fatigue. My moods are stable (actually, even better than ever). My hair has yet to thin. So far, so great! I attribute my good fortune this far with the supplements I am taking to combat all of these symptoms.
1) Stresstabs with Zinc:
-Multivitamin WITHOUT vitamin A (Vitamin C 250mg, Vitamin E 30 IU, Vitamin B1
(thiamine) 10mg, Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 10mg, Niacin 100mg, Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)
5mg, Folic acid 400mcg, Vitamin B12 12 mcg, Biotin 45 mcg, Pantothenic acid 20mg,
Calcium 70 mg, Phosphorus 30mg, Zinc 23.9 mg, Copper 3mg ). I love this stuff! I
definitely felt the difference in my stress/mood levels when I accidently skipped a day.
Try it out! I know quite a few other acne.org Accutane users are on it!
-While research is still debating as to whether or not Biotin truly helps your hair and skin,
I refuse to take any chances. My hair is very thin already, and I need all the help I can
get to combat the Accutane if it should want to make my hair fall out.
3) Flaxseed Oil:
-Giant horse pill, but fantastic. My joints are yet to feel achey!
-Another giant horse pill, but again, works very well. My joints feel healthy and happy.
Side effects of Supplements:
1) The only side effect I have noticed is green urine (Hey, I told you I'd be honest!) This can be traced back to the B vitamin in the Stresstabs. Completely harmless.
1) Some breakouts, but nothing more than the norm.
So far, so good guys! I'm happy, healthy, and aside from really dry skin, lookin' good! I'll update you all next week!
