Intro: New anti-acne regimen!

Hey all!

I thought I'd start a blog to track my progress on fighting acne. So... here goes!

I'm Adalyn. I'm 20 and since I was 12, I've had moderate to serious acne (a LOT of whiteheads and blackheads plus the occasional one cystic zit). My new dermatologist just put me on a completely new anti-acne regimen that I will start with tomorrow, and I'm going to log that new regimen here. My skin tends to be combination/dry side and a tad bit sensitive.

Here are the Rx meds that she put me on:

Doryx 150mg (doxycycline hyclate)

Retin-A Micro Gel 0.04% (tretinoin)

Fougera Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion 1%

Here's the new skin regimen that my new dermatologist put me on - and some of her suggestions.

AM

1. Cetaphil Cleanser

2. Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion 1% (pea sized amount for the entire face)

3. Moisturizer with SPF (she suggested Neutrogena Healthy Defense)

4. Makeup - must be oil free (she recommended Bobbi Brown foundation)

5. Doryx pill with breakfast (because it upsets empty stomachs)

PM

1. Cetaphil Cleanser

2. 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser (she suggested Panoxyl or Oxywash)

3. Retin A Micro Gel (pea sized amount to entire face; begin using every other day and then start using everyday)

4. Cerave Cream Moisturizer

I will follow this strictly with the exception of the BP cleanser; I still have a couple of Benprox 5.25% Wash from my last dermatologist's prescriptions, so I'll replace the BP cleanser with my Benprox, and use the cleanser in the morning as well, after Cetaphil. My main reasoning is that I'm sensitive to BP and I also hate wasting prescription drugs (Benprox Wash can only be obtained through Rx).

After inserting the stuff I use and reworking the regimen, here's the final regimen I will stick to:

AM

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

2. Benprox 5.25% Wash

3. Fougera Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion 1% (pea sized amount for the entire face)

4. La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid

5. Makeup/Foundation - undecided! I've tried a lot and most seem to clog my pores. Still searching for one though.

6. Doryx 150mg with breakfast

PM

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

2. Benprox 5.25% Wash

3. Retin-A Micro 0.04% Gel (pea sized amount to entire face; begin using every other day and then start using everyday)

4. Cerave Moisturizing Cream

And that's it! Anyway, we'll see how it goes tomorrow on DAY 1. Cheers for now. :)
