Im a 21 year old female suffering from cystic acne and alot of whiteheads. i am sick to death of feeling like crap because of the way my skin looks :) it may not be as severe as others, but it's bad enough to lower my self esteem to the point where i dont wanna go out in public and wish i could just be a hermit until my face is clear.

so i finally got the courage to see the doctor about my acne (which is big for me since im very self consious about my skin) the doctor prescribed me with the birth control Diane-35. I got home all excited that this pill seemed promising from what he was describing, but later found ALOT of negative reviews about it on this site. so i was torn whether or not to take it, but decided i would give it ago anyway, because i couldn't bare to look at my face anymore, So that was that.

I started on May 1st so ive have only been on diane for 9 days so there is not alot to report yet. I will say though that I have broken out like mad in the last week with little whiteheads and a few cysts.. which is great! :) i did expect to get an initial break out though so i was prepered for that, i just hope that doesnt continue for weeks on end!

I hope to update my blog every few days, even if there isn't much to report. it will be good for me to look back and see any changes, and for others to read if they wish to :| i noticed that there isn't many posts about Diane-35 ( or diannete) on this site so i thought i would write about my experience.

xx

Hi there,I've just started my second run on Dianette (Irish version). I had great skin within about 6 months the first time round but when I switched to Yaz my skin went crazy so now I'm back on Dianette. It's only been a month and I can see and improvement already but I am also using topical Clindamycin. Maybe you should go to your doctor and ask for a topical. They kill and prevent growth of bacteria so with that added to reduced sebaceous gland activity its a full frontal attack! I also use SA, Tea Tree Oil and Witch Hazel together. The SA is in the Neutrogena Oil Free Wash and the other two are in an exfoliator so I rub them together and use them on my face at the same time morning and night. I figure with the cleansing and exfoliating I'm also getting rid of dead skin cells and promoting their quick-drop off rate so that's a third attack on my acne. The Dianette will improve your skin but if you add in the topical you'll prob see results quicker! Don't lose heart - it will work! And plus - it's only acne. As bad as this may sound when I look at some of the other users of this forum who struggle with severe acne it makes me feel blessed to have mild-moderate. Great skin awaits you :)

Hi there, thanks for your helpful reply, i really appreciate it!Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience switching from dianette to yaz, i have read so many reviews from people saying the same thing. I am going to try and avoid going on yaz after diane...although from what i hear, your skin breaks our like crazy once off diane anyway so im abit scared of that :sthanks for the tips, i might ask my doctor about a topical on my next appoinment as im sure it will help me out even more :) ohh and i also use the same neutrogena cleanser so ill be sure to try out your regime! This board is such a great place to share stories and get advice, and i definatly know what you mean, i shouldn't complain half as much as i do about my skin because at the end of the day there are others far worse off than what i am!Good luck with your second round of dianette :Dchelsea
