I used to get dandruff all the time, whilst living in a dry, cold climate. Here is what i do with my hair, to keep dandruff away:
I only wash every 3rd day, when my hair was long, i went about 1 week between washings.
If i work out, I rinse my hair with water, and add little conditioner, but NO SHAMPOO.
I buy shampoo with NO SODIUM LAURYL SULFATES. These dry out the hair and scalp.
If i get the itchies, I moistureize my scalp with coconut oil overnight, rinse in the AM.
If that doesnt work, i add tea tree oil to the coconut oil, and massage into my scalp. note tea tree oil is antibacterial, and antifungal. Coconut is antimicrobial. Sometimes dandruff is caused by a fungus.
And thats about it. I get my hair cut about 1 x 3 or 4 months, I bleach the shit outta it, I fry it with the hot iron, and blow dryer.
