Feb 27, 2010. Day one.

blue skies

I just started the generic accutane, Amnesteem, today. I am 25 years old, female, and have had wicked cystic acne for roughly 3 years. I've been on everything including antibiotics, all sorts of prescription and non-prescription topical treatments, used chemical peels, blue light treatment, zeno, and facials. Nothing has worked so far, at all. So, I got the 'tane. I was afraid of accutane before because of the nasty side effects and the possible abdominal damage. But, my dermatologist said that accutane is the only possible thing that will help, and otherwise I'd probably have acne until I'm like 40. So, I decided to roll the proverbial accutane dice.

I got my blood tests, filled out the ipledge book, and got my script. And shoot, it's a good thing I have insurance, because without it Amnesteem (40 mg daily) would cost $450/month. And the doc said 1-2 beers 5 nights a week is okay, just no binge drinking. Lucky for me, my nights of college keggers are behind me. Oh, and I'm supposed to drink 3-4 liters of water a day. Overall, I'm hopeful. It'd be so GD great to not have to wear make up daily.
