school is starting again, which means a more hectic routine. unfortunately i have not properly followed the regimen in the mornings, only making time a couple days in the week to moisturize before heading out into the bitter cold and nothing else. i've continued to follow the procedure at night and plan to figure out a way to make time in my rushed mornings for skincare. also unfortunately, my skin is beginning to appear flaky, especially around my mouth, which is peculiar, because i rarely, if ever, go out of my way to apply BP to that area. i've just finished applying a generous amount of moisturizer - i look a little like a ghost before it's done sinking in. hopefully the flakiness improves. i have a few new pimples, but i can attribute them either to just having gotten my period, slipping up in the mornings, or both. i'm still happy with my progress - my girlfriend commented how soft my skin is, and i silently thanked my new twice-a-day moisturizer habit.
a short summary of what my skin has been like until now: my skin most closely resembles the moderate acne picture as shown on this site. my dad, who suffers from severe adult acne, gave me a bar soap containing sulfur in the spring, and i used it by itself throughout the summer. it seemed to help at first, but breakouts quickly resumed with more force around late summer and when fall hit my skin became dry and started peeling from it. i got some quality moisturizer and at first used it alongside the bar soap. my skin was no longer painfully dry but it was not cleared at all. i switched the bar soap out for a gentle cleanser and saw fast improvement, but was still not happy with the frequency and intensity of my acne. i found this website and incorporated the overall routine (cleanser, BP, moisturizer twice a day) and application techniques without the specific products. it's been about a week and i see mild improvement and surprisingly little dryness since i use generous amounts of moisturizer, mostly bothered by lingering active acne spots that feel especially irritated. i hope to obtain a proper 2.5% BP solution soon instead of the sparing amount of 10% i have to use right now, but i am happy with my current progress and i will post updates
