Well its well over a year, 18 months since finishing Roaccutane and I'm still clear. I have the odd pimple now and again, mainly cycle related. My skin is a little dry if anything, but only on my face and sorted with a little bit of moisturiser. I am still exceptionally happy with my decision to take it. Pics below are fresh out of the shower with no make up or products on at all.
I had a pretty bad outbreak all over my face two weeks ago. I still wear foundation due to dark circles around my eyes but two weeks ago they weren't too bad so I went out in just No7 powder foundation. Safe to say that it 100% should be avoided at all costs. My skin was itchy and within two days I was covered in pimples. It was depressing. I took to the differin everyday for a week, my face went sore but it worked and I am happy to say it seemed to clear. I was sure it was a relapse but now I d
It's around 6 months since I finished my course. My skin has been great. I have had the odd spot/pimple mainley when I have PMT, but they have literally been one single small spot. My skin is not oily at all and I am finding moisturiser sinks in nicely.
I can say I have lost weight since stopping and do believe weight gain was a significant side effect for me. I was putting it down to the Mirena coil but that's is still in and the weight has gone so yes I believe it was the Accutane. It did c
So it's been around three months since I finished my course and I thought I should update. I still am very relieved my skin is so much better. In the last three months I have had maybe two small pimples, and I mean small. It's such a relief. I wish I had done the drug years ago, my skin would look amazing if I had had done. It's great now but all the years of acne I had mean it could be smoother but I am still so happy. Anyway added some pics 100% make up free!!!
I decided to stop my Roaccutane course with 21 days to go. Three weeks early. I know some people will think that was a little bit silly but I genuinely believe that my body really had it's tolerable dose. With my dermatologist rounding my dose up to a dose for a 60kg person and me being only 57kg at the time, I won't be too below my cumulative dose.
It got to a point where I was getting a bit light headed during the day and my eyes were becoming uncomfortable and I just didn't feel comfortabl
As I am nearing the end of my course I feel like my body is actually reaching its tolerable dose of the drug. I feel as if the minor side effects are starting up again. I have had some face stinging and burning and I feel a lot more dry in general. I suppose it could be because the weather has turned bitterly cold here, but I do feel like I am ready to come off these now. 30 tablets left...
Well, I have picked up my last prescription and have just over 4 weeks left. It seemed like so long but has gone so fast. Can't believe I am nearly done! In the past two months I have had 1 spot, 1!!!
The back pain has died down now so I am back on 30mg, my skin is so good though some days I forget to take it now. It's so great not to have to worry about my skin all the time. Anyway, two more nurse appointments and that's it. One at the end of these tablets and one five weeks later for a last
Six weeks left of my treatment. My skin has been fine, no problems at all, until 2 days ago. I have had a sudden increase in sensitivity on my face and a very dry area on my chin. I have also been getting a pain in what I believe is my kidney in my back.
I am coming to a personal opinion that maybe my body has reached its tolerable limit of the medication. If I stopped now I would be approximately 1000mg down on my cumulative dose so not good in terms of stopping a relapse. I have decided to
Today was my third dermatology appointment. I had my initial appointment, one at three months and today at 6 months. The derm was happy that I am no longer breaking out. He said I have to be on it for 8 months in total, not 11 like I thought so that's good.
I have worked out my cumulative dose. I am 9st 2lb which is 58KG, I have 8 more weeks to go at 30mg a day which is 210mg a week. From when I started to when I finish I will have done 33 weeks. You need 120mg a KG at minimal for permanent re
Ok so it's month 6 and I am so happy with my skin. It's never been this clear. I still have five months to go so I can not wait to see the end result. I still have red marks which I can handle and as I keep saying they should fade. Fresh faced pictures:
Nothing much to report here really. I have had two noticeable spots in the past week or so, weirdly in the same place but on opposite sides in front of my ears. The one in front of my left ear now feels huge under the skin. Other than that pretty good really. I still have the Hyper-pigmentation but I find if I skip a day on the meds then that seems to fade a little, I am hoping that means it will fade pretty quickly when I stop the medication for good.
I have had some muscle and back pain on a
I have just finished week 20 and can say for the first time as of today I do not have one single active spot on my entire body!! For those like me who were doubtful and all those who are reading that people clear straight away, if you look at it like this: it has taken me 5 months to get to this point. I can still feel one or two clogged pores on my cheeks but the rest of me feels very smooth. Being on 30mg once a day and having 6 more months to go to meet the total required dose, I look at it a
Not really been much to say at the moment. The red marks/hyperpigmentation is getting better still. I had a few very small spots on my cheeks over the past few days, it is my ovulation time at the moment and usually I would break out very badly so this is good. I would say they are more like clogged pores than proper spots. So yeah just getting on with it at the moment.
Ok, so I haven't posted in a while as nothing much has been going on. I have kind of lost track of the days and weeks but I am in month 5 now and would say up until now I had no real noticeable improvement. I woke up the other morning and it seemed overnight things have significantly got better. My forehead is amazing seriously. The red marks I have have faded slightly and my skin seems smoother in general. Still some stubborn bits on my jawline and I had a bigish spot on my cheek that is just h
So I feel like things have improved a little in the last week. I have some new pictures. The fresh red marks are where I extracted some spots the other day. I feel the old red marks have improved a bit. The only really active areas now are on my jaw line and just under on my neck, which has always been a problem area and especially when I am due on which is now. I have put the new pictures next to last weeks ones. My skin is a little red at the mo, just a bit sensitive.
I really need to stop picking at my face. I know I shouldn't do it but I don't even realise I am doing it at the time. I do think it is hindering my progress.
Nothing much going on with my skin. Got a breakout at the mo but not as bad as usual for this time of the month.
I know there seems to be confusion on this, if this medication works on this. My forehead has always been one of my serious problem areas and has been very bad in the past. If you look back on my blog to my pics from the beginning you can see how it was. Some positive news is that my forehead is the most clear it has ever been, ever, it has no clogged pores or closed comedones at all. I have one active spot above my eyebrow which is almost healed. I can not believe how smooth it feels. I have n
The Dermatologist I saw today was really nice. He is my named one, but not who I saw last time. He gave me quite a lot of useful information. I mentioned first the red scars. He said it isn't scarring but actually the skin redness described in the information leaflet, a listed side effect. I assumed that would be full face redness but apparently this is what it refers to. He said when I finish the medication it will fully go and fairly quick.
I showed him my face and told him that it has just
So, I start week 12 tomorrow and I feel like my skin is staring to get the Accutane dry that everyone talks about. There is certainly an increase in dryness on my face now. I do have loads of red marks that are bad but at least some of the lumpiness has gone down a bit. It is my cheeks that are still the worst area and I am still getting new spots daily. I see the Derm on Tuesday.
OK so I know I wasn't going to update for a while but I really wanted to log that today I have woke up to ANOTHER huge breakout on both cheeks and neck. So PISSED OFF. It is just getting worse and worse and I have come to the conclusion now that I am just one of those rare few who it does naff all for. I just hope it doesn't stay this bad forever now.
