Had my bloods done this morning and my arm is soooo bruised I will be so glad when all of this is over but saying that hopefully every single bit of this journey will be worth it in the long run.
Typing this is taking forever as my eyes are so dry and blurry however it only got bad this evening an hour or so ago and was fine during the day so not worried about it just frustrated...
With all my scars from over the years i doubt I will ever have the confidence to go make-up free however it is t
It worked! My Derm can now see me on Thursday. I feel much happier now that i'm not going to be left hanging until the middle of April.
my eyes have been extra dry and stingy today and not even the spray has helped , am hoping that it improves tomorrow...
Still no cysts though, its got to have been about 3 weeks now and that for me is completely and utterly AMAZING!
Day 5 and other than a dry mouth at the beginning still no side effects! No new cysts have appeared which is great but my skin is still very oily, I haven't seen any difference at all there...
I've been taking my tablet after half an avocado each morning but wondering if I should up it to a whole one as maybe it's not being absorbed properly as I generally have a pretty low fat diet?
Well I didn't take my pill today as the plan is to try and eke them out to last until my next appointment. I really hope that it doesn't make a difference as I feel that my skin has been making great progress.
No surprise but the hospital didn't phone back...shall email the consultant over the weekend.
Still happy with the minimal spots that I am getting , until I get my blood tests and new prescription I am going to do as suggested by 'Wittysock' and take the rest of the pack on alternate days so that my body stays used to the meds.
I don't know whether i'm annoyed, disappointed or just not surprised...
My last Derm appointment was on the 26th of Feb and as anyone knows who takes accutane you need to be seen every 30 days.. I was told at the time that they had no appointments free but to leave it with them and the Supervisor would fit me in a slot and let me know, this has happened before and they did so I wasn't concerned. As I hadn't heard anything yet I phoned them today and was told that they couldn't get me an appoint
I may have spoken slightly too soon about my skin as I have two hard lumps underneath my skin, one near my mouth and one on the opposite cheek however...even though they're still deep below the skin only one of them is painful and touch wood they're not as big as my usual ones.
By this time in my cycle I am usually covered in big red painful weeping cysts, from my forehead over my nose, my cheeks, my chin and even on my eyelid but this month nothing!!!! I will take dry eyes and chapped lips any day of the week rather than having them all over my face feeling like everyone is looking at you in disgust.
If this continues I will be just so,so happy...ecstatic in fact!
No physical changes, still no cysts, the one solitary spot on my chest (spot not cyst though) and skin still dry not oily.
My red face from yesterday has gone down though and is just a bit brown and sun tanned today which is fine and it can serve as a warning to me to wear sunscreen when (if) we do actually get a summer!
My eyes are still very blurry in the evenings which is really annoying and quite unsettling but the eye actimist that i've been using is making them feel much less tired and d
Well, I did read somewhere that you need to be careful in the sun, having checked the information sheet it says you can 'develop increased sensitivity to light'... it's not wrong! Today was a beautiful day, not hot but dry, warm and bright and I spent about 3 hours outside in the garden. If I thought my face looked red before it was nothing on now... I look like a giant red tomato!
This summer should be interesting as I work outside - i'll be topping up the sun screen every 5 minutes! Still no
Extra dry blurry eye day today and it seemed to start earlier than usual too so hoping new eye spray is going to help. My lips however don't seem to be as dry as they were which is great, i'm still applying the lip balm every 10 minutes but they are not cracked and peeling like they were
The rest of my skin doesn't seem any more dry than it always in at this time of year and I haven't noticed any change in my hair (which has always been dry anyway). I had told myself that I wouldn't dye my ha
Well today has been a really long day, 12 hour shift on top of a very heavy cold but my skin is still doing much better, just regular spots no cysts, next week will be the real test as it's the time of the month when my cysts normally go into overdrive
My eyes are extremely blurry and looking at the screen is tricky but that may well be tiredness on top of the accutane effect.
This may well make me sound bad but after such a long shift and to be honest not a great day before the treatment I
Still no cysts appearing (touch wood) and my skin is so much dryer though not peeling dry (yet).
The extreme exhaustion seems to have passed which is good as tomorrow is my 2nd 12 hour shift in a row which a week or so back I would never have managed, my eyes are still very blurry in the evenings though but even they don't seem as dry and sore so happy there
Because Accutane is supposed to work better after eating a high fat food I have been eating an Avocado every morning for breakfast.
Although I usually love avocados i have to say after this treatment I shall never want to even see an avocado again! If anyone can suggest anything else that I can eat that is high in fat for breakfast (I don't eat meat or dairy) i would be very grateful...
Also has anyone else found that drinking more water helps with the dry skin and cracking lips? I read that
I realised this evening that I did something today that I NEVER do... (and i'm aware that it may sound stupid) but i was expecting a delivery and I still didn't put any make up on..
Normally i'd at least be putting on concealer and a bit of powder for fear of opening the door and being looked at in disgust, I wouldn't usually even go to the bin bare faced incase I bump into a neighbour... i'm sure that my skin will once again get bad before hopefully the Accutane works properly but for the mome
I couldn't update last night as my eyes were so dry and blurry looking at a screen and typing would have taken me forever..
Other than my eyes a pretty good day, I have felt exhausted all week so have made an effort to rest and relax which has done me good. I don't feel as though my face is quite as red as it was, my lips are however at the point of splitting and no amount of chapstick is making a difference. Still no huge spots though which for me quite honestly is like a miracle!
End of another week and am so glad that it's the weekend!
Side effect wise it's the worst it's not been the best week, exhaustion, dry and sore lips and eyes and a face the colour of a beetroot... However...my pores are smaller, I have no active cysts just a couple of regular spots and this is the best my skin has looked for years.
Still so very exhausted and today my eyes hit the dry stage. They were so uncomfortable and I kept blinking trying to 'moisten' them but my boss thought I was winking at him and started winking back! I hope that this is a side effect that doesn't last long as it is horrid especially on top of feeling so tired constantly. Off to the pharmacy for some eye drops at the weekend I guess...
I have a few new spots appearing but so far touch wood no huge pustules or cysts so happy with that. As far as
My face is very red still and apparently more noticeable than I had thought but still preferable to my usual cystic acne and touch wood at the moment I have no new breakouts.
I am however completely exhausted, not so much sleepy tired although I am sleeping better than I normally do but my general energy levels are at an all time low, I have a pretty physical job and by mid afternoon I feel like i'm struggling and just want to collapse! Of course there is the possibility that i am coming down w
Well, i Googled the smaller pore thing and the good news it confirmed that this does happen (Plus I Love my Pug agreed it is happening for her too... hi ), unfortunately it did seem to look like its a temporary thing just while on the Accutane....
My face is still a bit redder than usual but a) not noticeable when wearing make up and b) I would choose a red face over huge painful cysts any day! I do wish my eyes didn't get so tired and blurry in the evenings though, however they don't seem dry
Day 3 and it's been a great day. The dry mouth which I had yesterday seems to have gone (maybe it wasn't down to the accutane after all?) and so far am not experiencing any other side effects. I have a brand new spot appeared right in the middle of my fore head (nothing new there) however this feels much smaller and not as deep as the huge cysts that I usually get, is it too soon to be hoping that's because of the medication?
I think i've messed my days up a bit on here sorry but I get very easily confused!
Now I don't want to speak too soon and it may be my blurry eyes not seeing my face clearly (if only everyone could see me through blurry eyes..) but not only is my face definitely less oily but my pores seem to be slightly smaller? I have always, well for as long as I can remember had really huge pores, I see people with smooth skin whose pores are barely visible and I envy them so much (stupid I know). I was wa
Last night I went out and it was honestly the first time in ages that I have forgotten about my skin and just been able to enjoy myself without feeling that people are looking and judging me.
Don't get me wrong, my skin is still awful but is not itchy and painful which is what reminds me constantly. My skin however does go in cycles and the weeks before my period are always the worst so my skin is at the place where it would always be slightly better but normally the cysts would still be at the
No changes from yesterday and am off to the Derm tomorrow so crossed fingers for the blood tests etc though everything seems fine to me, unsure whether he will up my dosage as my side effects don't seem too extreme or not as I have lost half a stone, shall wait and see!
Saw the Dermatologist today (not my usual consultant but a really nice Doctor who was actually lots more empathetic than my usual one who is just business like.)
All my bloods were fine and she was pleased (as am I) that my side effects are minimal, she said that most ill effects show within the first two months.
The only area that she wasn't too happy with was that I have lost half a stone...not sure how as I now eat an avocado every morning whereas before I just had a cup of tea and all my o
