Day Ten, Round 2 Of Accutane 6 Years Later

Incredible. My skin looks almost perfect. As mentioned before, my breakouts weren't major and this is my second time on accutane (the first time was 6 years ago when I was 19 and had horrible cystic acne). No major dryness, but I started a serious moisturizing routine at least 1 month before I even started accutane due to my previous experience with the drug. Here are the products that I am using and frequency: -Cetaphil face wash (morning and evening) -Clinique Moisture Surge Intense skin fortifying hydrator gel-creme (in the morning) -Clinique "all about eyes" eye cream (morning and evening) -Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (evening) -Aquaphor (for lips all throughout the day, before bed, and in the middl elf the night if I wake up) -Dr. Dan's Cortibalm (alternated with the Aquaphor throughout the day) -Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula (body lotion in the morning) -Cetaphil Moisturizing Creme (for body before bed) -Refresh Liquigel Lubricant Eye Gel (after waking up, before bed, and in the middle of the night if I wake up -Aveeno body wash -Marrocan Oil hair masks (twice a week, but I have bleached hair, so I'd do this even without being on accutane) -La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 60 (in the morning) -CVS dry skin therapy hand cream ( when needed) I make sure that my face is slightly damp before I apply any moisturizer - that seems to help with absorption. I have been make sure I eat a breakfast with a decent amount of fat in it when I take my accutane in the morning, and drink plenty of water during the day. A lot of the products on my list are a little pricey, but after taking accutane 6 years ago and finding that a lot of drug store moistures didn't do the job I found it was worth it to spend a little more on quality products. I am noticing that I'm kind of losing my appetite since being on accutane this time, which isn't very good since I'm on the thin side to begin with - so hopefully this side effect isn't long lasting.

Day One, Round Two

I'm new here, but I figured I might as well try to record this experience. Background: When I was 19 I had severe cystic acne all over my face - so much so that it hurt to move my face. I went on a course of accutane for 5-6 months and I got about 5.5 years of clear skin as a result. This winter, now 25, I started to get breakouts again but they were mild. Tiny tiny bumps that first appeared on my forehead and would not go away w. otc products. I finally went to a derm and from January until now I've been through retinoid creams, various prescription product containing benzoyl peroxide etc. My forehead cleared up eventually, but then the tiny white heads migrated to the skin on either side of my nose, continuing in a straight line down the sides of my mouth and chin - and these have yet to clear. My doc finally suggested a 2nd round of accutane. Most people say that my skin doesn't look bad at all, but it is concerning to me that the breakouts aren't slowing or stopping and that about once a month I get a pimple that looks like the younger cousin of the cystic acne I had years ago. So I agreed to the second round of accutane. This is day one. Since I've already been through this I have stocked up on moisturizers for every part of my face and body and have been using them daily the entire month I had to wait on all the iPledge business. I will write about what happens next here. If anyone else has to go through this again, I want to at least provide some info on why round 2 a few years later is like. The current dosage is 40mg once a day.
