Another day, another dollar. I'm currently at work on a Friday afternoon and thought hmmm I haven't updated my "blog" in a while. Obviously when we have a breakout, we jump onto google/acne.org in the hopes of finding an answer. I'm just going to paste my skincare routine from my prev blog entry & then add some notes. This is less boring then reading paragraphs.
Just to update you though, my acne has now shifted from my cheeks (relieved not to have to deal with constant cysts) - to my forehead, but only localized on my right side - not sure if this is hormonal, seems to flare up around TOM. I always feel like forehead acne makes your face look yucky if you have ANNNYYY tips to get forehead acne under control please please please let me know. The struggle is so real right now.................

I'd say I was 80% clear compared to my acne at it's worse (while on Yasmin ARGHHH) but this forehead thing is distressing.
Hey guys, long time no speak. I can't believe it's been nearly 6 months since I posted on here. So I want to get straight into it. Here's an updated skin routine then I'll go into some details, some things have changed some haven't. Here goes:
PM - post make up removal acne.org cleanser clearogen cleanser ACV toner La Roche Posey Effaclar Duo+ Cetaphil with a drop of EPO
Spot treatments (sparingly) sudocrem (errrday) PTR sulfur cooling mask Cortizone (only for deep cysts)
Masks De La Cruz Sulfur Peter Thomas Roth Cooling Mask (I mix the two above together) Aztec Indian Secret with Braggs ACV (I add de la cruz sometimes).
Supplements Zinc - 100-200mg per week Evening Primrose Oil Now Foods Female Balance
As my acne is hormonal it's like clockwork. This is both advantageous and frustrating knowing its coming but not being able to do much about it. October has probably been the best month for me in terms of acne I started taking now foods female balance straight after my last cycle and that seems to be doing something I don't feel as tho I can review it just yet. But if you have any questions please let me know.
I used to take zinc daily but I think it's stopped working a bit so I've cut back.
Ok, cleansing. I've been using acne.orgs cleanser which I love to bits but as I'm in the uk it's not too easy to get hold of and eBay sellers seem to have up'd their prices. I tried to come off this product but my acne was flaring up due to YourTea skin magic (yuck and btw they edit people's reviews and don't approve the negative ones it's all rubbish) clea skin in 2 weeks yeah ok I wish. Anyway I had to get myself another acne.org cleanser because nothing else was working. However after a recent trip to Paris I picked up a La Roche-Posay cleanser which is a beaut. Too early to review though but this is a possibly replacement. I use clearogen as and when. Can be quite drying but it helps. La Roche Eff.... Is amazing really gets rid of those stubborn red marks left from old spots loving it and have been for about 4 months. Only product is I get through them quite quickly and they are pricey!!
My de la cruz mask has been a long term favourite for me it just works. I won't go into too much detail as I've mentioned this is previous posts but I do tend to mix this with the Green clay mask and this works wonders.
Im in two minds about my Peter Thomas Roth mask. I like it but I don't think it reduced the spots themselves. It does defiantly even out the skin and help with redness and brown spots. It can be very drying if not used correctly. ive had it a good 8 months and have used it on a weekly basis it's only running out now.
I know this post has been a bit messy but im writing it from my phone which is annoying. Please let me know if you have any questions about any products I've mentioned.
My skin is about 90% clear and my breakouts are reduced to almost once a month. Yes I'm careful with my diet but not that careful, like I still eat wheat, gluten and even some dairy recently (I've been daily free for over a year now) but I'm so happy with my skin at the moment. I genuinely thought I'd have acne forever so if I can help even one person in the slightest I'll be over the moon!!!
Hey guys So since we last spoke (I spoke you read) I felt as though clearogen was being way too harsh on my skin so I made some changes. I'll go into my current routine later on. On Friday I had an appointment with a new derm... He told me my acne is probably genetic (even though it's clearly around my jawline and was caused by Yasmin one would think its hormonal hmmm). We did speak for about 45mins (my apologies to the people waiting for their appointment after me). He suggested roaccutane to "break the cycle of acne" but I wasn't convinced and told him my concerns. So he then turned to differin. I came home and immediately did crap loads of research. I'd used epiduo for 6 months and felt it was too harsh but that was probably the BP in it. Can anyone share their differin experience with me? I've decided not to start it just yet (I have a string of weddings in a hot country to attend this summer). Instead I've been researching avene triacneal... Again if anyone has any experience with this because get in touch! I'd love to know how you got on. After an accident a few weeks back I had to take Plan B which I think has thrown my hormones a bit out of whack plus being away I was sloppy with my usual masks and treatments and my skin has suffered. Ive been using a type of product for a while now and I must say has defiantly changed the overall look of my skin, I just need to get the jawline breakouts under control grrrr due to plan B but it's really calming down since using one of these products. Here goes... GUYS... SULPHUR... SULFUR whateverrrrr it's my everything. I have x4 kinds and 2 are just magic Peter Thomas Roth sulfur masque... Meh Azufre sulfur acne treatment ointment I like Now for my two lifesavers DE LA CRUZ ACNE MASK & DEAD SEA SULFUR SOAP <3 Amazing. Also, I have been routine with my zinc and evening primrose oil which I love. Let me know if you have experience with any of the above. I'm so determined to clear my skin without a crappy doctor or derm. I've seen around 8 in the past 10 years, NONE mentioned sulphur in fact when I mentioned it to the derm he said "oh might have a look into that"
So after seeking a second opinion from my trusted GP he advised not to go on Accutane next week. I explained to him that all the listed side effects I currently experience so imagine what it would do to me... I get flaking skin (which has calmed down since coming off epiduo), dry lips, joint pain and not to mention a stressful job. I Know I know Im scared and trying to talk myself out of going through. Funnily enough in the past month my skin has really started to clear. I'll post my current skincare routine below. I've also made some lifestyle changed which I feel have contributed to this. After being on antibiotics and epiduo for 6 months I am surprised that coming off it was the best decision. I'm still in 2 minds about Accutane ill be seeing another derm in April. I'm hoping by then that I have had considerable improvements and won't have to go. So my current skincare routine, here goes - AM Cetaphil cleanser (with Foreo Luna Mini) Clearogen toner (part of the 3 step) Cetaphil moisturiser ...primer, foundation etc etc PM Biore charcoal cleanser Clearogen foam cleanser (with Foreo Luna Mini) Clearogen toner Clearogen sulfur moisturiser Twice a week - Aztec secret Indian healing clay mask Daily ginger and turmeric tea Evening primrose oil Viridian high five multivitamin & mineral formula switched to these from zinc Daily berries nutribullet I've also been using the body shop vitamin E mixed with aloe night cream I can't really comment as its only been 2 days but my skin feels hydrated... No cysts at the moment just tiny little pimples (2 of them) I'll also post a couple pics of December 2014 and January 2015 I feel the improvements are down to the Clearogen hmmmmm I do want to add that the first pic was taken I was erm PMS'ing
So last week I went to the derm. I went with no make up, I figured I could hop in and out of my car so I wouldn't need to see anyone. As I predicted my skin wouldn't be looking too bad so I kept a photo diary for the month leading up to my appointment. She took a look at the photos and we decided roaccutane would be the best route. I've done a lot of research for the past year so I feel like I'm ready. I'll probably post a new entry at the end of jan which is when my first appointment is. Feeling anxious. Oh I also have to stop my antibiotics a couple of weeks before and have bloods and a pregnancy test a few days before my actual appointment. Let me know if you have any advice or tips for starting accutane/roaccutane or even if you're starting anytime soon.
I've named today day 0 because tomorrow is my first visit to a hospital derm. Now the bit that I always find a bore so I'll keep it quick. I've had acne since I was about 15. But not the kind I have now. I used to get pimples and cysts on the forehead only. I went in various contraceptive pills to get rid of it. About a year ago I went to my GP and she prescribed Yasmine - Yasmin is the reason I have the acne I have today - all over my cheeks, jawline and chin. It did however get rid of any acne on my forehead In May my gp referred me to a derm but really it was just another gp who has a bit more "knowledge" dealing with skin conditions. She took one look at my face and said oh it's not that bad, a few blackheads and sent me packing with some epiduo and antibiotics. Fast forward 5 months, the epiduo has done an alright job and I'm not a big fan of antibiotics... However my acne is still persistant and I get a lot of deep painful cysts. Their new favourite spot is my cheeks. So after a struggle I went back to my GP and she referred me to a local hospital derm. My appointment is tomorrow so fingers crossed I can finally get some answers
